Boom, Boom, Boom!
What's that sound - Godzilla? No, its The Choosing Beta! It's nearly here!
We'd like to have two beta games utilizing all 24 kingdoms between the two games, with 6 new and 6 veteran kingdoms in each game.
The games are free, including both slot and service level. There are some criteria:
1. You cannot have quit a game other than Titan or Warlord in the last 3 months prior to turn 15.
2. You have to pledge not to resign for any reason prior to turn 15 at the earliest.
3. The purpose is to get FEEDBACK. We have high expectations here. There are still a few of the new kingdoms where we have received almost no feedback. If you want to play silently to not reveal plans, etc, you are better for both youtself and us to not play in the beta. No Valhalla points here.
4. Imperators have priority, players who have been around for a long time have next priority, players that have been active in the community forum, players at Victor and Commander up next, and then the newer players and players at Warrior or Scout. We want a few new players to get that perspective of a new player, but we need to be assured you understand the objectives of the beta are to get FEEDBACK and that means general impressions and actual bug reporting, but not a lot of questions about explaining results. We just won't have time for that with Mike gone and me having pretty much all responsibility and also some things for me personally to address at the end of the year and into the first week or two of the new year. So if you get upset if you don't hear back from support in the beta, that doesn't mean we didn't hear your feedback, but we won't be making in-game changes to positions on results, etc. Again, the purpose of the beta is to get feedback and try new things - not to win the game.
5. The betas will likely be M-W-F, so 3 turns per week. We'll likely let this go to either turn 18 or possibly turn 24. Its not about winning, but we do want to see how things change for kingdoms in the mid game and late game.
6. Again, understand we will have little access to our developer (Mike), so even if something is a bug, don't get angry if it isn't fixed: we are noting the bug, but can't say it will be fixed before the next turn, etc.
7. There is a lot of new material to absorb, and if you want to just play like its 2nd Cycle, it probably won't be a good experience for you or be helpful as a beta tester. Testers need to focus on the new stuff and try to discern how this changes the game.
8. Should be understood, but in a beta, any rule or game condition might change at any time. If that is upsetting, this might not be the best format for you to be involved in, although we hope to get wide participation to get The Choosing ready for open release.
The positions will be assigned by me. Just post here if you want to be included, not a position preference. In general, the more forum communicative and experienced players are likely to get the positions we need the most feedback on. That doesn't mean just new positions, we want to see how the Dwarves and Gnomes (for example) do and are they an attractive choice (we think so), how are the kingdoms that have changed locales playing and doing in their new locations? How has strategy changed? I don't think anyone is going to think, oh, this kingdom got weaker. Strategy will be more nuanced. So, if all that makes sense and is acceptable and understandable:
Post Here Your Interest in Being the Father of a Kingdom in 3rd Cycle of Alamaze!
Either one or both betas might start as soon as late this week, so don't hesitate.
Don't miss the chance to be among the first to experience the new level of Alamaze!
