I am a lawyer, and a very cool development in the past 20 years, in my opinion, has been the widespread no cost availability of court documents. It used to be that the docs were available on high cost proprietary websites like Lexis or state websites of vastly varying quality and availability. Some state court websites weren't online at all.

Now, most members of the public and press can quickly find rulings and pleadings at no cost, and publish them with a link. I read the whole Giuliani default ruling last week on a site like that, and I have Lexis for free. it was just easier to click the link in the article I read.

And if this is something I think is "very cool", you can guess how exciting the rest of my life is.

Maybe I am older because I only remember Lexis and Westlaw and a very tedious research protocol.
