Game 6061 ended on turn 40, the results:

1 DA Ozymandius 77,894 107,208
2 NE Cinkasnor 40,879 65,555
3 NO Milo007 18,421 36,944
4 SO Alz 17,300 31,060

While I won as the DA, it felt pretty hollow as this game had a lot of drops, even in the late game.

DE was close to winning (four regions), and the NO and others pushed him back, and then the DE dropped (leaving Triumvia empty for quite a while). The IL had some monster groups, full p-9 wizards across the board, and one turn just dropped out of nowhere. The UN similarly dropped late and, to my knowledge, was not attacked. So it was the four of us remaining. The NE was clearly more powerful. I was fortunate in that I moved a turn or two sooner.

My game was:

Turns 1 - 4: get region
Turn 5 - 12: Withstand RD attack; he dropped
Turn 13 - 25: Fight the TY (lots of good battles on both sides)
Turn 12 - 40: Grab territory

Game 6057 has completed, resulting in a rare victory for the Faerie Folk!

Final results:

1 FF Ozymandius 60,137 100,908
2 PI JohnnyUtah 47,377 77,781
3 NO CosmicWizard17 43,184 69,173
4 IL Holding For Player 35,043 58,959
5 DK Meilichios 35,488 56,848
6 LI Xerro 25,476 54,777

As the FF, I also set a new Alamaze record with 37 prisoners!

Most of them seemed to be from the poor LI. I got fortunate with my attacks and even did some "blind" kidnapping, where I didn't have intel, but I guessed correctly based on past results.

If the game had gone to turn 50, I feel the DK may have won. He had groups I couldn't touch and mostly tried to stay away from. That being said, I didn't really know what was going on in the south with the PI.

IL dropped what seemed to be a viable position on turn 38; no idea what happened there.

Anyhow, good game to all who participated!

Congrats to the winner Wynad, 40 turn rex victory. I really messed this one up, I did not realize turns could be accessed via the App so I played in the Dark for like 2 weeks. It put me in a hole and I basically just existed until the end. My apologies to LT, I am sure the Demon Princes play seemed bizarre.

Anonymous game ends with a Ranger win via Lion's Share on Turn 40. Congratulations to Ozymandius!!

Place Kingdom Player Results-40 Grand Total
1 RA Ozymandius 71,342 111,196
5 AL Cinkasnor 11,865 23,684

I entered this one, my 1st Anon game, as the 12th player. Krynn was the location (in my limited experience I see that it's the last area fairly often) and I figured I'd try the PI as there were 2 possible seas to play in and I hadn't had any navy to speak of in the other couple games I was in. The Nomad in Zamora quickly blocked my presence in The Sorrows on Turn 3 when he took my secondary town on the coast and I found out that Krynn had nothing down that way. I didn't find the SA, who was in The crown Islands, town in my region until Turn 4 or 5 and his 2nd army was still there. I had to move my main army there to take it and he still didn't retreat, so I attacked it for a couple turns and knocked it down to a couple small brigades. Didn't expect him to collect some companions and begin plundering my villages. Up to this point in my limited experience I had no idea that you could even plunder a PC. It's possible that he also did the same to the RA (and eventual winner) player in Triumvia as RA declared war on SA at about that time. Meanwhile NO and whoever was in The Sword Coast were fighting and other scraps were happening in the Eastern half of the map. I wasn't too concerned with the East half of the map as it soon became a 3 way battle between myself as the PI trading PCs with SA and RA in Region 1. RA dropped out after several turns as someone, not sure who anymore, attacked his area in the East. By then NO had taken The Sword Coast and was battling FO in Zanthia. I eventually knocked out SA to take Region 1 and hung out for a bit building up armiess, mages, and emissaries. RA was fighting 2 or 3 players in the East so I didn't think it fair to go that way, so I attacked NO instead as he was still fighting FO but seemed to have things well in hand. My inexperience showed as I had no real plan and attacked all 3 of his regions at once. Took some PCs of course, but never came close to taking a region. NO countered with 3 big armies marching/teleporting into my heartland and nearly controlled the region when the game ended.

Once again: congratulations to both Ozymandius and Xerro for finishing Top 2 here.

This game was nuts. Every time I opened my turn, I had 7-8 battles on my PCs and a handful of enemy emissaries taking things. The only one who left me alone was the Tyrant, so thank you for that. And the Fairy Folk were mostly absent from my regions. But the other 4 kingdoms were all up in my business. Even at game end, there are 9 groups at my PCs. Anyway, I got to finish with 4 regions and 8 legendary castles, 25 prisoners (mostly princes), and I think I was in the lead pretty much from the beginning. The Nomad is a well balanced kingdom and was a lot of fun to play.
Congrats to all who played and finished.

With an incredible amount of player skill, instinct, force of will and maybe even a little luck, the Great Onyx Beast now rules Maelstrom with cruel fury and shapes it to his malevolent design. No pending enhancements are necessary for This Black Dragon. No pending Buffs are necessary for This Black Dragon.

OK, that being said, the kingdom still stinks. Proceed with buffs and enhancements.

I found this game interesting in that fortified PCs were actually difficult to take, even late in the game. Teleporting groups were still a thing, but were less common. In a typical game that goes the distance, there are no PCs (outside of the water) that are safe from a wizard group popping in and taking them. In this game, one had to be very deliberate to take some of the big PCs.
Thanks to all who played. I'd like to hear what others thought of this "low magic" game.

Game 6012 ended on turn 40:

1 GN FitzandtheFool 103,824 134,562
2 NE Wynand 64,315 92,425
5 WA Xerro 29,341 52,970
6 AL Cinkasnor 12,059 19,152

I have no idea what the GN did to get all those status points, but congrats to him.

I took this game over from Strong on turn 32 (33 being the first one I ran). He left me with a strong and well-rounded kingdom. He was engaged in fighting the WA, and so I picked that up. The WA was using invisible patrols + summons to take PCs, which is a difficult strategy to counter. Fortunately, I had just completed a game where I was fighting the IL using a similar strategy, and thus I could adapt the same counter-strategies I used in that game. I assassinated multiple P-6s and up and all, but one, was a wax figure - very frustrating! About the time I got a handle on the WA threat and wanted to move to attack the RD I got attacked by the NE. Before I knew it, it was turn 40 and the game was over.

Game 6023 ended on turn 22:

1 CI Ozymandius 46,446 58,846
2 AN Windstar 17,471 25,948
3 EM FitzandtheFool 18,700 25,400
4 IL Jhereg 14,554 20,541
5 DU Milo007 14,900 20,200
6 NE CosmicWizard17 14,620 19,926
7 RD Chris WB 11,300 17,555
8 LI Holding For Player 8,644 14,008
9 WA Cinkasnor 4,626 6,990

I usually look to play a balanced style - build up groups, raise and train wizards, improve production, acquire artifacts, and develop steadily across the board. For this game, I decided to throw that out the window. My strategy was simple: pure military, with everything else second. That meant recruiting one turn one and nearly every turn after that, either from PCs or companions.

I started in Triumvia, with my capital sitting close to Zanthia. That proximity gave me early intel, and what I saw surprised me: Zanthian PCs stubbornly remained human. Either the player dropped early or never engaged, so I moved in immediately. By turn 7 I had taken the region, and the LI picked off the city. Rather than risk an early conflict with him, I pivoted and marched north for the WA in the Crown Islands.

The WA player was clearly caught off guard; I secured regional control by turn 12. I never did take his capital, but I kept it under observation and made sure to denigrate him anytime he tried to enamor. I give him credit; he played the entire campaign and came close to taking some crucial PCs.

Staying true to my military-first doctrine, the next target was the Deathknights in Krynn. I had their PC list, but not much else; no recons, no sense of where his capital was or his troops. His holdings were split between the northern and southern halves of the region. I pushed through the north, meeting almost no resistance. My armies then began the long march south, only to find human PCs by the time they arrived. It looked like the DK had also been fighting the LI; that conflict may have contributed to his eventual drop.

I could have claimed Krynn, but holding four regions that early is an invitation for everyone on the map to dogpile you. Instead, I bypassed full conquest and advanced directly on my real target: the LI in the Sword Coast.

By this point the LI held Sword Coast and was expanding into Zamora. His military was well developed, and his wizards were stronger than mine. I was also concerned about his agents and spent considerable effort protecting my groups and warding any emissary he might have detected. Every one of my twenty-five orders was going into the Lizardman campaign - if anyone had attacked me anywhere else, I would’ve been in trouble.

Everything came down to the siege of the LI capital. We fought several decisive battles there. At first, I wasn’t sure how things would shake out given his wizard advantage, but my groups were simply larger and packed with elite brigades. He played the battles well, but in the end, raw military weight carried the day. Sometimes the answer really is “more troops!”

The LI dropped on what I believe was the final turn - unfortunate timing for him, as he missed out on his status points.

My kingdom at the end showed my strategy: seventeen elite brigades and another twenty-three veterans. Only two p-5s, the rest p-3s. My troops' cost was enormous, over 100k food and gold per turn. It was an effective strategy but also fragile; I did not have the tools to fight someone with multiple domes and regional spells.

This was a tough one, I learned a few lessons. I had a random extra order one turn and did a enamor on The Demon Princes on the other side of the map not realizing Immortals get a ping. That set off a war that was super bloody for both sides, I managed to hold onto my capital and slowly gain back my region and lost troops but I was unable to warn others or do anything about the Elf. I knew he had the stone of all minds early and was building his wizards fast. It was a fun battle with Vball and I probably got lucky to survive his hit which was very effective.

Congratulations to everyone that finished it was a long trip. Congrats to Ozymandius for the Victory! This was my first game back after many years, I wanted to test mechanics and figure out the new meta. I thought I might finish as high as 2 but figured near the end I would be 4th ish. Wars blazed all around me and as the game got closer to the end...(I thought 40 was it), I prematurely attacked a big DK (Lord Thanatos) group in the mountains. I knew he would have a wall and also the HH but I wanted to see how a buffed Dwarf did. (It was bloody on both ends but manageable for both parties if not wasteful on my part. If I would have realized 50 was the end I would have planned a bit better and still probably been easily beaten LT if he remembers has a past with me both positive and negative he is a really good player. Dwarf was fun to play but the military seemed a bit underwhelming and really relied on having a Elite troop type early. I probably lost 8 princes lol but managed to make it to the end. Thanks to everyone.

We had three games complete recently:

Game 6013 - turn 25

1 WA Ozymandius 40,443 57,973
2 GN Lord Garth 28,760 43,942
3 AL Cinkasnor 17,385 25,615
4 GI Lord Moontree 14,835 25,614

Yes, only four players remained on turn 25. This was a game defined by the drops. I started in the Diamond Coast and picked up Nyvaria after that player dropped. I got an early crystal of seeing and reconned various capitals. I saw the DA had his wizards at his capital, all ripe and plump, and I couldn't resist a quick invisible teleport down there to take them out. He dropped shortly after losing the majority of the wizards. I did the same to the Elf, who also dropped and then to the Giant, who did NOT drop and fought for Pellinor to the end. I actually had five regions on turn 24 but didn't declare victory.

Not much else to say about this one.

Game 5974 - turn 40

1 NE CosmicWizard17 44,974 71,638
2 FO Lord Garth 38,276 63,923
3 UN Pine Needle 36,495 63,357
4 NO Ozymandius 31,918 54,283
5 DW Cinkasnor 25,295 46,146
6 IL Meilichios 15,080 31,684
7 RA Jhereg 15,035 28,063

Entirely different game, this one going the full 40 turns. I had played the Nomads in a previous game and went for a very aggressive posture then, so this time I decided to move more slowly and do more buidling. In hindsight, I believe this is the wrong way to play the NO. I had much more success striking quickly. I ended up moving on the IL at some point as he was picking up regions quickly. I blew up his troops multiple times, and I don't know where his emissaries kept coming from, as I had a bunch of them:

Duke Asril Brightbeam Illusionist YB 600
Duke Telimar V Illusionist YB 600
Count Curio Kasmator Illusionist YB 400
Count Tor Mithlandik Illusionist YB 400
Baron Axio Illusionist YB 300
Baroness Emily Illusionist YB 300
Baron Khloe Illusionist YB 300
Baroness Ltandry Illusionist YB 300
Baroness Mckenna Illusionist YB 300
Baroness Melaina Illusionist YB 300
Baron Nixon Illusionist YB 300
Baron Yillis of the Cloud Illusionist YB 300
Baron Zirra Meganstro Illusionist YB 300
Agent 14 Laureville Illusionist YB 210
Agent 13 Shandon Slipknot Illusionist YB 195
Fanatic 4 Ghost Illusionist YB 60

He kept fighting and taking PCs, even with patrols (thanks to summoning phantams for the fight). This forced me to come up with new tactics - fortifying towns and divining his patrol. I eventually took all of the south, but it took nearly the entire game.

Game 5969 - 37 turns

1 EM Windstar 48,888 77,201
2 UN Ozymandius 45,083 76,305
3 DA Cinkasnor 25,312 49,201
4 GI Milo007 15,690 35,836

I need to say I don't really know how to play the UN. I did a lot of military building in this game, which ended up being mostly lost in a single turn where I got caught between large DA and GI groups. I did have a long fight with the SA after he unexpectedly appeared at my capital (how did he find it?), which ended with his regent being kidnapped. While I got second, the status points don't show the real story, as a number of people dropped, and I grabbed some empty PCs. The DA and EM were much more powerful kingdoms than mine in the end.

50 turn, no high priestesses allowed Pagan. I chose a wizard kingdom not only for revelation, but they also have reveal pop spell. This was one of my favorite games, not just because I won as the Sorceror in Zamora, but because there was a ton of fighting. The necromancer opened up in Nyvaria and quickly took Diamond. I figured it was Ozmandias as he is extremely aggressive. I found myself under attack on turn five or six from Mythgar and the death knights. At that point it was too late for him to wipe me out, as my city was too strong. As I was busy defending my eastern flank, the Sacred Order popped down from Krynn, but all I really needed was the city. Playing the sorceror, or gnome with a major coastal city, is almost unstoppable if you dont make mistakes. I continued to defend and regain my pops til about turn 15, at some point the attackers just gave up. Things were looking great for the Necro tho, as he had three regions and was taking pops in triumvia for 4. DK had attacked the black in Pellinor, so I built for a for a few extra turns. The black had taken DK cap, and it looked juicy, so I teleported to it in mythgar and took it the next turn, my first major mistake. I was planning on stopping the necro, and completely upset my new neighbor instead, but did i mention it was juicy? At the point where the necro looked like he could swoop down to stormgate and threaten to win, I decided to act in Darkover (another reason to take a wiz kingdom, teleportation). I teleported to a town invisibly (another reason old trick someone taught me), and took it the next turn, while moving my cap there. Ramhorn fell the next turn as i moved my cap back to zamora, and my emmies spread to diamond coast with three groups in darkover. Here was my second major mistake, the necro landed a capital at area LR, which is a water area, looks like land to me. It was built heavy, and i tried to move there but no ships. It prevented me from fully securing the region. I took darkover and diamond and the necro began to retaliate. Shifting to nyvaria, and now fighting a two pronged attack from necro and black, it turned into a battle royal! 4-6 groups attacking me each turn, emmies flying everywhere, and necro grabs his fifth region, but didnt declare. What a comeback for him! He lost it the chance and never regained it. Turn 34 or so, the deathknights, still clinging to a thread of hope, and having been building from stormgate for about 15 turns began to enamor untamed. I owed him (plus he had the ring of spells and power) and headed into stormgate. Dropped a big hammer and he dropped two turns later as i took possession. The next 15 turns was back and forth, and i was lucky enough to win by lions share.
I would like to thank the underworld, you had every opportunity to back door my kingdom, and almost did around turn 20, but realiazed i was heading to darkover and ended his kidnapping attack. The right thing was to let us all battle it out.
There is a line of building that becomes useless, i always struggle with it. 400k gold is nice, but once the battles start your wizards are too busy to raise them
I fought over 70-80 battles, and i bet necro had at least that with black right there. It was constant.
I saw recently that someone had mentioned that no one builds anymore, and that things are too free, i disagree. I loved watching the necro roll from turn 4ish. Gast paced games like this didnt used to happen. Those changes were made cuz Alamaze had become a game of farmers, i played many games where players were just growing til turn 30.
Revelation is still too strong. Iron golems still have crap defense.
The black took a legendary from me, i didnt think he could do that. Minimal damages too.

50 turn, no high priestesses allowed Pagan. I chose a wizard kingdom not only for revelation, but they also have reveal pop spell.
