Fair points, Rick.

We did agree to a 10-turn NAP for all players to allow build-up AND most players had two regions by turn 7, and we were Pagan so no Priestesses, so there was time to build. Even from there, I did not invade until turn 14.

Anyway, played the Elf, a well-rounded kingdom, and took Oakendell and Northern as my agreed-upon first two regions. When I did get around to invading Torvale, I made a mistake and landed at a pirate town 1 turn before I invaded Torvale. In response, the Pirate declared me an enemy, but did not denigrate me the turn I moved in. At tolerant, this did not slow me down. A denigrate plus the enemy declaration would have slowed me quite a bit. 

And nobody attacked me. As Rick noted, sometimes luck plays a part. The Pirate choosing Torvale and Arcania, causing the Black to have Runnimede and Amberland, certainly made things harder to defend for them.

I appreciate the game, folks.

If it is any consolation, I am totally getting my butt kicked in Game 542 and will be lucky to even survive the next few turns Smile.
