Warlords Game 11 - Four Player, 12 Kingdom Game
#11
So as the standby player who came in on T4, I thought I'd offer a few thoughts.

1) Things are quite challenging for the "evils" given the relative unavailability of my team partner due to lots of other commitments. That said, between coming in as a standby, lacking significant coordination ability with my teammate, and having zero expectations of a win, the result has been strangely liberating, and I've been having a better time than I was initially.

2) I think setting personal goals for myself in this game is helping on that note, rather than having the goal of winning. For example, my goal with the BL is to have fun with lots and lots of WY brigades. Smile My goal with the WI is centering around Wizard power. My goal with the GN is taking Runnimede.

3) Regarding that last, I came into the game with AN having denigrated and succeeded three times against GN in Runnimede the turn before I started, so I basically started T4 as Hostile in Runnimede. Since then, it's been a really fun ride, doing whatever I can to keep the region out of the hands of AN (there are some slightly weird starting positions in the Team game), and striving for the region myself.

4) Another personal goal for the GN is to capture as many AN emissaries as possible. So far, that goal is being accomplished mightily. Smile

5) Anyway, my compliments to the "goods" for doing such a coordinated job in working together this game! I'm sure you'll end up taking this, but I'll fight you as long as you want. And if you end up preferring to drop this game to free up service level space, I'm totally amenable to that as well, I just really want to help you guys out however I can in taking on this standby position.

Well, I'm enjoying the game, but is your partner in evil even getting his turns in? You are putting up a good fight, but he doesn't seem active. If he is and you guys want to keep on playing, that's cool, but 2 on 1 would seem to be rather unsporting if that's what we are dealing with.

I couldn't tell you, honestly. Seriously, totally defer to you guys on this. Happy to play it out, or happy to let it die, if you'd rather free up the service level space. Whatever serves you guys best.

It Kind of stinks, we had some tight turns at the start, but its no fun attacking someone that does not even defend themselves. I am willing to play some of this out but if your partner is DOA then let us know. I guess if Dupont and I push we'll have a team victory one way or the other.

Again, I don't know any better than you as to the status of my partner, last email from him was on 8/24.

We haven't heard from Daenerys in awhile.

We do take the commitment for Warlords seriously, and so for one, restrict it to Victor Level Service and above, and also only to Citizens (those players who have not dropped a game prior to turn 12).

It's disappointing G11 had turnover, and we offer the three remaining contestants a free setup in another, fresh, Warlords game. Just find your fourth, if the three of you are game, and let us know who has which kingdoms.

Rick, that is super kind of you, thanks!

Any way I can float an alternate epic format? 15 Kingdoms, 5 players, Kingdoms chosen via draft system (I can work up a relatively fair draft order), and I would even add a "no communications" rule on the honor system, to eliminate the prior complaint of getting ganged up on, 3 vs. 2.

DuPont, Brogan, any interest in that?

We moved our Warlords format from 15 to 12 kingdoms due to player request, debated circa July, 2013.

I like that! A 5 player draft. I am interested in doing something with the 2 points I have open now that game 11 is toast. I would allow communication, but only an individual player can win via the 3 kingdoms he controls.

If we can arrange a variant like this with Rick/Cipher (concept would be based on current Titan draft setups), the draft order would be something like:

1/8/15
2/10/12
3/7/14
4/9/11
5/6/13
