Detecting Invisible Groups
#11
Even weirder is that an agent can get a recon of an invisible group but not access the group to perform an assassination. But the above rules are in place today and won't change unless Ry Vor says so.

At minimum the spell description needs to be rewritten as it currently is very clear that agents will not discover an invisible group regardless of the level. However, in my opinion level 7 is much too low of a level to even get the vague warning of invisible group. I would think level 10 for 970 to reveal a vague generality about invisible and no level agent should be able to get an actual recon of an invisible group (or 15+).

"Name: Invisible Brigade Spell #: 845

This spell allows the wizard's brigade sized (up to 2 brigades) group to become
invisible and so undetected by groups and agents alike. This is of course an
excellent way to avoid combat or surprise an unsuspecting foe. Spell lasts for that
month (game turn) cast. No Columns beyond Column "B" need be completed."

Wasn't it L10 for invisible groups at one point in time? I vaguely seem to recall that it used to be L10.

On the clipper side no agent can get a recon of an invisible group.
p5+, warlords generate a vague note
HP and spell orders exist to locate groups as well.

A recent as game 149 on the forum Ry-Vor stated that invisible patrols aren't detected by Warlords/P5.

Is Uncle Mike's conflicting info above re: this topic accurate?

Stuff like this should be added into the rules I think.

I would actually recommend a thread that only admin can change that keeps track of official changes on the first post until the rules are updated with those changes.  There seem to be a lot of changes going around that some know about and others do not.  Once a rule become official add it to the thread and update the first post.

Hawk, I write code based on Ry Vor's design documents/emails, not what's posted on the forum. This is the exact statement in the End of 2nd Cycle Changes document that I based my software on:

Warlords and P5+ will detect ambushing groups similar to their detection of invisible groups in the same areas as their own group.

It says nothing about avoiding patrols.

A matter of wording, but I think group and patrol have always been mutually exclusive.

Going with the theme of trying to fix (as stay in place as is) Classic, I'd like to just leave this issue and others to how UM reports them to be in the code.  We can reconsider some things in the next release.

So we can clarify how things are, but we won't be making changes until 4th Scenario, and those will only affect 4th Scenario.  This again is part of Classic remaining how players remember it.

Going forward, anything is possible in new releases.

What about artifacts like palantirs?

Are they able to see invisible, ambushing or through masked groups?
I am the greatest swordsman that ever lived. Say, um, can I have some of that water?
