Hey everyone. Just a big shoutout to John for keeping Alamaze alive and awesome. I was wondering what else has survived from the golden era of PBM? There seems to be a lot of dead links out there.

Are you guys playing anything else?

Hyborian War is still going. As is Duel2 and Forgotten Realms at RSI. I know there are others.

I just took a look at Middle Earth by Game Systems International. I think this is the descendant company of the guys who used to run Earthwood. I found their software and visuals kludgy compared to Alamaze.

I played Middle Earth a bit many years ago. I looked again recently and saw they had some activity there. I also saw they charge quite a bit (IMHO). It seemed a big ask to get into a new game. Perhaps that is a barrier for a number of older games.

Same here - Earthwood was my first. I ended up winning the game I played. They sent me a printed map with notation of the victory. I kept that map / certificate for a long time, but it has been lost to the sands of time now.

And a new Alamaze on the way! The new code is just finishing loading all artifacts for turn zero so we are closing in on the actual game play code soon!!
