Speed Alamaze
#1
I want to play a fast game. Like really really fast. Like multiple turns per day. Players vote and agree on pauses to let real life do it's thing. I can imagine something where you would start on Sat morning and play several turns with the turns being processed every hour or two - or possibly even faster. As the game progresses it might go to a couple of turns per night and then maybe a burst again during the weekend.

To make this fully player controlled we need a checkbox on the order submission page "These are my final orders for the turn". If every player submits and checks the box, the turn could be processed automatically.

Anonymous would be fine, but I can imagine diplomacy would add an extra layer of involvement. Since everyone is relying on everyone else to submit, maybe a smaller number of players would be good. I've always wondered why 10 players (no overlap on regions) isn't the default format for Alamaze. So 10 would be a good starting point. But anything between 6-10 would be ok I think.

Does anyone think this would be fun?

I think it would be fun, but I see no way that it would work as anything other than anonymous. I think you'd have a hard time finding 12 people to do it, too. Warlords would be a better option, I think, but with three sets of orders to submit, that would also limit the number of turns you could run.

Might be fun, but the "ready" button would require new development and thus won't be possible under Second Cycle, according to Ry Vor's previous comments on this concept. Good idea, though!

I think the Ready button would be global so could find its way at some point. I would not expect it even if it were going to happen until the new order input form is fully ready and 3rd cycle is up and running.

Primeval may be the best format since it already it geared for a shorter game with fewer players making it easier to get all players done quickly.

Nice to see some interest. I'm in one Primeval game, and it's a pretty good learning experience, but tactics are different when there's only 5 players. Way different. So I'd like to try it with a pretty full set of players if enough wanted to do it.

As far as diplomacy goes, I have an idea that mimics the public diplomacy game that most of you are in. My company already pays for a WebEx subscription that gets very little use on the weekend. All of the players could participate in the WebEx Group Chat and conduct diplomacy in that public forum. The exchanges could be recorded and posted to the forum so they weren't lost to posterity. But anonymous is fine as well.
