The Choosing Potential Changes for Jan 1
#31
I just thought about this and the question of caster power.  Could caster power be more in check if we ran more 15 player games and/or make the caster kingdoms dispersed kingdoms instead of altering powers?  Casters starting out without a guarantee of getting a starting region would limit their development I would think.

Could we make a couple of changes to spell descriptions so that they are accurate? Wall of Flame does not work as described, and although Mike says that the way it does work is described in the forums- I have been unable to find that. It is not misleading in the description, it is flat out false and inaccurate.

Secondly is Chaos, it should be made very clear that this spell affects the opposing force regardless of whether the magic phase happens in the battle.

Thanks

Kind of last chance to voice an opinion on the soon-to-happen changes to The Choosing.  I need to get my stuff to Mike in the next few days.

One idea for January adjustments is that all superior sightings require a key, but not a specific key. So this should relieve the frustration of having a specific key be out of practical reach and also have a new trade source for keys to superior sightings.  Any thoughts?  Right now we still have Key to the Slayer required for Elan, but no key for the Sword from the Sky.

I like system for U.S. as is. If anything, I'd love to see that any wizard that assists with a 101, 138 or 139 order has a small percentage chance to gain a level. Maybe 5% with a Guarded Attack, 10% with a 138 Mirror Image and 20% with 139 Wizard Assist.

Your idea to amend wizard training costs is good Ry Vor. The costs are too low right now for wizard kingdoms in my opinion.
-This Khal Drogo, it's said he has a hundred thousand men in his horde

If you raise the cost of magic research, and reduce the number of summoned brigades to 3 per turn, then you should also do away with the SPECIALS that certain kingdoms receive like Oasis, Grove, Pirates cove etc. You are forcing the Superior magic kingdoms to maintain a conventional army, with the corresponding food and gold costs with awful military traits. If you do this then I feel those with Mastery and Supremecy should get summon Skeletons as a kingdom trait so as to start summoning 3 on turn 1, 2 at the latest.

How about more options for starting locations for empires.  Could the halflings be a more viable kingdom if dispersed instead of waiting to get invaded in region 7?

I don't think I'm forcing anything.  Again, the purpose is to make all kingdoms equally attractive, and so far, the design has favored the magic heavy kingdoms fairly major favorites, by our standards.  We are trying to make, say, Cimmerians equally attractive to Necromancer.  With a different style, and a different skill set.

The Halflings haven't been played much, but they are under the microscope.
