OK, I'm putting Mike in charge. If no games can run, we'll have to live with that until the new server is ready.

I'll extend renewal dates until back up if this means we stop running games as of now.

I think it will be quicker to have Softlayer provide the new server with new operating system.

We'll try to keep everyone advised of our progress.

This is likely already known, but Micro$oft has released a patch for W2003 aimed at the WannaCrypt ransomware:

Thanks, it will be up to Mike to decide whether to install that to stem the tide perhaps until the new server is ready.

Yes, I checked and updated the server with the latest Windows patches every day since Saturday. The server still has tons of Trojans that it can't get rid of. Must be other vulnerabilities associated with Windows Server 2003.

Seems like a good question to ask: Have all of the .html files that this super infected server been sending out spreading viruses or anything?

Only if the website has cookies. All of Alamaze's sites (login, order entry, game queue, Valhalla) do NOT have cookies by design so no worries there.

However, we have to assume that our usernames and passwords were possibly stolen. I don't think that's an issue with Alamaze because bots/hackers aren't interested in filling out orders for a game but rather credit card and financial info. But it will be an issue if you use the same username/password with online banking or another site.

Since your password may be stolen from any site, you always have to be aware of such risk and change your password when you feel that you may have been compromised.

After the new server is up and running, if someone's orders are scrambled then we'll have everyone change their passwords but I don't think hackers are interested in messing with our kingdom orders because it'll be a waste of time for them...

Man...this bites. What am I supposed to do with my weekend? You know that because of this I'll have no excuse not to do my chores.....stupid lawn. My neighbor thought he was insulting me with his 'you growing a dandelion farm' crack. The answer was yes....until now. I guess I'll be mowing....and it looked so pretty with all of the seeds floating into his yard.
