Alliance: Light the Beacons!

It seems like we are closing in on enough players but are short a couple of captains.  Tark, Vball, Net, are you guys up for another?

Thanks PT but I'm not quite ready for the captains seat yet.

Of all things Alamaze, one thing that mystifies me is why the Alliance format isn't more popular.

I guess some players don't want to communicate with teammates, which is a shame because its hard not to learn new things - even just how others think about Alamaze strategy - and most become better players.

Some don't want to depend on others and are concerned they may not win if their teammates let them down, or perhaps some are worried about letting down their teammates.  In most things we do have to depend to some extent on others, in most things only one will be declared "the winner" but as in life we can measure what winning is in different ways.

Alliance is my personal favorite format as it seems to really amp up the intrigue and suspense, which can't be there when you can't share with anyone how clever, brave, ingenious, dogged, or creative you are, or here how devious others are if its all bottled up in just one mind.

So why not see how Alamaze is working with a couple teammates these days?  Let's fill this game up.  If you like playing with a given player, or want to see how they play and learn, this is an ideal format, and we have experienced mentors willing to Captain and teach and also listen.  Or join as a free agent as most do and be a part of a team.

Here's an easy way to become a better player.  Spots remain available.  Team Captains will divvy up the free agents when the time comes.

Well stated Ry Vor and this is my favorite format.  In seasons past I have had the privilege to have played on teams led by The Wise One (Uncle Mike), The Grey Mouser, and several games with Draugr and P.T.  In each one I learned a great deal and totally enjoyed the shared experience.  There is nothing that compares with being in the shield wall with a trusted ally on either hand.  All other things being fairly equal, the teams that communicate with each other the best win this scenario most of the time.  You need to find a way to bring forth the strengths of all of the positions and focus on the weakness's of your opponent.  It's much easier said than done.
I would greatly enjoy another joust under either the Draugh or Rellgar banners.

I'll give it a shake. I imagined this was for more veteran players - was cautious to throw my hat in the ring.

A willingness to communicate and not quit on your teammates are the only requirements I would say
