I think minimum turnaround should be the standard 3 days for this game. Remember you will need time to work with your mentor and perhaps alter orders as you discuss options.

Agreed, I don’t want to rush I want to learn, this should then add to the pool of players that can play better.

I love this format as it is a new kind of challenge for both the mentors and the mented........hmmmm demented maybe. My only challenge is that I am leaving tomorrow for a 17 day vacation with overseas travel. I will have to do everything from my phone with limited availability. I return on May 14th, so just making everyone aware that I will less available than I normally am. I usually respond fairly quickly.

I'm sure some veterans reading this are thinking they don't like dealing with newbies, but teach us and you will have some fresh blood in the pool.

So here is what I think we have so far -

Time - Standard 3 day time to give mentors time to work with minions.
Communication - Open communication betwenn mentor/newb, and newbs can post every 3 turns - think I got that right.
Mentor Draft - Mentors Pick Newbies --> Then wait 3 days to give them time to talk and then snake draft pick per team, go to 12 then back down.

If we want a 1/1 ratio for mentor/newbie we need 1 more of each. If this is wrong or we want to update comment and I will change, just like to visualize where we are so far.

Wfrankenhoff said he wanted to play as a newbie a couple of pages ago.. Smile which fills that portion, and leaves two mentors. Ace/Calidor/ VBall / Wookie/ maybe the wise one? Or RyVor ? Lots of experienced players still out here.

A note to veteran Maelstrom players.  Game 5247 (Marching into the Maelstrom) was won, and Game 5242 (Maelstrom Premier) is past turn 25 so no longer counts as a service level slot.

So you likely have at least one slot available now.

I've been slow to join here for two reasons. One, I have not actually done very well with Maelstrom as of yet, so I may not be that helpful. Second, not sure I understand how a team of 2 is going to work. I guess it is actually 12 individual players, one of whom will win, but you start with a game-long ally? Given that, I would consider it a victory if we can get our Newbie to be the actual winner. 
So, moving Will to the second group in the below list and we are almost full. I emailed Canticar and I think he is on board to be the final mentor. It will be fun to eliminate him and his Newbie first.

Draugr, I will let you create the game from the available formats once you feel there is agreement from the participants on the format.  I don't monkey with the code/server.  If Uncle Mike, riding high from his victory wants to do a setup not available on the game creator, he is welcome to.  If you don't hear from him here shortly, I'd say it needs to be an existing option.  BTW, he would need to do this gratis.
