We chose the Diamond Coast because we heard they have the most baby seals for when we go clubbing.

To expound on what I see as Maelstrom strategy in the main, and with the diplomacy changes mainly directed at eliminating wolf packs, that if it comes to be that there are not early incursions, or even the threat of them, then of course, the strength moves from military kingdoms who should seemingly be active militarily early in the game at the expense of those who would like to quietly grow strong, and even to an extent the more balanced or political powers, who generally would seek to win before turn 30, before the mages or Underworld become too strong.
Speaking of which, I have my frowning eye on the Underworld at the moment. I think we will just move Guard and Counter Espionage up to very early in the turn, instead of for late agent actions.

Just anecdotally but I went after the NE very early as the AT recently and crushed him, got front runner status then got crushed. Similarly, as the GN I did that to RD. Wait. Strike that, and reverse it. But I do believe RD (Vball?) did not win that after my elimination. Maybe front runner status, too? And Brek won with RD on turn 12 or something. So unsatisfied, just a quickie.
So there are early military moves.

Yes, my RD invaded your GN within the first 3 turns, quickly got the early lead and 3.59 regions (and missed a win by one village), but then fell back some after that and did not win.
