The comprehensive report analyses the production cost of the material, covering raw material costs and co-product credit, equipment costs, land and site costs, labour wages, maintenance costs, financing charges, and the depreciation cost. The extensive study describes the step-wise consumption of material and utilities, along with a detailed process flow diagram. The report also assesses the latest developments within the corn starch industry that might influence the costs of production, looking into the capacity expansions, plant turnarounds, and mergers, acquisitions, and investments.

Corn starch is a form of carbohydrate derived from the corn (maize) grain. It is obtained from an endosperm of the kernel. Corn starch is a white powdered substance that is primarily used for culinary, household, and industrial purposes. It tends to swell in the presence of moisture and heat, which is why it is used for the thickening of sauces and gelatine. Corn starch is also used as an anti-caking agent for products like cheese and more.
Corn, which is the raw material for corn starch, has been in abundance during the pandemic, thus, limiting the detrimental effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the corn starch market. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) estimates that the global production of corn this year would surpass the previous year’s production value by 6.7%. This means that amidst the COVID-19 crisis, the corn production is experiencing a high demand. This has been made possible due to its extensive applications in daily grocery products like cereal, raw corn, sweet corn, baby corn, and more. Some of the majorly corn producing regions are the United States, China, Mexico, Brazil, and the European Union. These factors are expected to influence the production cost of corn starch.

The production cost report by Procurement Resource assesses the production of corn starch via wet milling. In this method, the corn starch is left in water for a couple of days in order to ferment. Germs and endosperm are separated from the resulting solution, and the starch is later removed from each part by washing, thus, obtaining corn starch.

I hear people who study corn starch production and it's cost accounting have the highest suicide rates of any profession, eclipsing dentists and psychiatrists.

Somehow though these folks identified Alamaze players as a target-rich environment for potential study of corn starch dynamics.
