You can pick region or kingdom.  Then after everyone picks it goes backwards and you pick whatever you didn't the first time.

Umm, I was going to pick Nomads or Ancient Ones. That seems to not be my choice? Can someone bring me up to speed on what folks are picking?

So far people are picking regions first.  You can pick kingdom first if you like but this is a snake draft so when it comes back to you for your second choice you could be stuck with the last kingdom.  The rest could be chosen.

I'm not familiar with the regions named. Is there a new map? Otherwise Sothern Sands is fine.

Harry send your email address, and I can send an email with a spreadsheets or 2 to help understand a few things. people tend to pick regions first because it either gives them less neighbors, more squares to hide in if invisible, access to potential water ports or most importantly different regions (map zones) add specific bonuses at the start of the game like extra troops, another wizard etc.
Once everyone has picked in the draft it reverses so while you picked 10 to get your choice when it comes back you will be picking 3rd. So that could influence the kingdoms you choose. Some people absolutely want a specific kingdom or region so they pick higher in the order but can be left with some pretty crappy selections/combos at the end, big balancing act. Hope that helps.

Harry, assuming Wookie doesn't pick it, I suggest you pick the region Zamora if you want to play the Nomads or Ancient Ones - it's probably the best region for those two kingdoms.

I don't care about Nonads or AO. I remember them being associated with region 10 so I thought I was getting one or the other.

I would still suggest you pick Zamora. It's tucked away in a corner and you are less likely to be bothered with early than if you pick Kryn or Zanthia (the other two remaining regions). It will give you a few extra turns to get your legs under you while you adjust to the updated rules. Plus, it's in the south and gets good early production.
