Upcoming Changes
#1
So here are some plans being worked on in the short term.  Many of these changes will be done on a separate server and we will post links for feedback from people.  Please keep it positive and constructive, but also be honest with your opinions.

New Website - We are building a new webpage, there will be a lot of similarities, but the goal is to keep it simple, clean and easy to follow for a new player.  Our goal is to simplify the process as much as possible.  Please understand this is a work in progress and we will have a wizard of a programmer here to help us along, so think of it and he can likely make it happen.

New Forums - We have a new forums in the works, hoping you will not see much change as we make the move, as we will be ingesting the current forums so as not to lose all the valuable information contained on this site.

Class Balance -  I will start some polls later this week to get input on Kingdoms should be a great discussion.

Future - More to come here but my over arching goal is to make Alamaze easy to join and play make it more graphical and driven with a finger or mouse, yet not lose its soul.  Understand this is many months out, first we need to understand the code we have, and thanks to Mike this is well documented, then we need to convert that code, test it etc.

I don't know for certain, or even whether you might be interested, but there used to be an earlier forum (for Fall of Rome and maybe even for Alamaze, not positive), which ran on vBulletin forum software. I only mention it, because it's possible that there could be other, older postings pertaining to Alamaze that could be potentially retrieved (if desire). Those, if they still exist, would likely be located in a forum database that might be located on the web hosting account, somewhere. I don't know if the old forum (which at some point experienced a problem - likely a database problem, but not absolutely certain, as it's been a very long time) director and/or database file are actually still intact, somewhere, but I mention it, since it crossed my mind, just now. Even if it exists, it may or may not contain any forum postings pertaining to Alamaze that would be relevant to the more recent versions or cycles of Alamaze.

Also, it's possible that it could be on the game's web hosting account, rather than on the current forum's web hosting account. It's been so long, I can't remember. What I do remember is there was a reason why the forum software was changed, once upon a time ago. The original forum was "lost." Of course, since players had to recreate their forum user accounts, when the shift to the new forum software occurred, you couldn't do a simple importing of users from the different forums, without encountering some problems. That's not to say, however, that the forum postings, themselves, are beyond recovering, necessarily. Just a possibility. Recovering the oldest forum could potentially gain you access to more potential players, including some of the old Fall of Rome players. Of course, the Fall of Rome stuff may not be part of the sale/deal. I just know that a number of the old Fall of Rome players eventually became Alamaze players, after Rick reacquired control of Alamaze, after his brother's passing. I think that's when it was, anyway. The specific time frame is lost to the brain fog of memory that has deteriorated or left me, in the intervening years.
