The only diplomacy rules I saw posted on page one were as follows:

Answer from Strylian: Partial Diplomacy Eregnon. Communication is limited to the boards.

Three on and three off is not a rule and would be a bad one if it were a rule. The goal is to prevent people from forming teams. 3 on and 3 off for the whole game does not prevent this. If someone thinks the Giant and I are working together from across the board, please let me know. He asked for food on the forum, and as far as I know, nobody else offered. Surely you aren't saying the rest of the board can form a coalition to prevent the poor Giant from buying food. If someone else wishes to feed him, then I will not enter a trade order this turn. And to be clear, I have fed EVERYONE who has ever asked for food in this game.

Military nations often have to do regular trades with mage nations for food. I have played in lots of games where nations have done more than 3 trades with each other, as long as the trades are on the forum and open to everyone. The diplomacy rules are to stop people forming teams and that all communication is done on the forum so all players can see what is happening.
