Hyborian War - Game HW-982

I play the kingdom of Nemedia in Hyborian War game number HW-982. When I went to the post office, today, my turn results for Turn #31 were there waiting for me. That's always a good feeling, when an RSI turn envelope has your name on it - even if everything in you turn results doesn't go good for your kingdom.

   

With only three more turns left in this game (Turn #34 will be the last turn processed for HW-982. So, by this point in the game, I've decided to take more risks with my kingdom's characters. I had a pretty decent run with my assassins, this turn, sending three of the Vendhyan player's characters to an early grave.

A place that many people simply don't know helps to facilitate the playing of games. I maintain a post office box there, and it's where my turn results from playing Hyborian War, a game that I first started playing in the 1980s, arrive at, after RSI (Reality Simulations, Inc.) first began running Hyborian War. Alamaze first began processing turn results in paper format back in the 1980s, also, if memory serves me correctly. At one time, RSI also ran Alamaze turns. That was my first time playing Alamaze, in fact - as the Nomads for just a turn or two. 

The turn results that I received for my Alamaze game were very short. I well remember that. There's a huge difference wit my experience of playing Alamaze then, versus playing Alamaze, now. Having concerted some of my recent Alamaze turn results into PDF format, I know.

Of course, Alamaze's original creator and game designer, Rick McDowell, was a lot younger, back in the game's early years. Oh, look, here he is now!

   


If it weren't for post offices (and more importantly, the postal service), Alamaze wouldn't exist today. So, bend the knee and kiss the postal ring out of respect, Mister Carlson...er...newest Alamaze big guy.

And in case you're wondering why I created this thread here on the Alamaze forum, you should actually be wondering, instead, why I created this Off-Topic Discussions forum section, instead.

Because people tend to like to discuss a variety of things, and not just one single thing. Over on The Road of Kings forum site, which is where Hyborian War players tend to gather and discuss all things Hyborian War, many have become former players, by now, but some of those old birds still frequent that forum site, for the perpetuation of friendship and camaraderie. This forum section isn't limited to discussion of just games, though. Forum users here can create discussions on non-game topics, too.

Looking forward to carrying on discussions with others is one way to draw people to the Alamaze forum, if you can grow the initial audience big enough so that it sustains itself. That's the thinking behind the creation of this forum section.

In recent time, Hero Kastorius Publicio departed secretly to secure the demise of Jamiantis Baltis of Vendhya. My Lady, I am delighted to say that though Jamiantis Baltis's guards were at their posts, and the target was alert and armed, Kastorius Publicio entered into our victim's quarters without a sound and Jamiantis Baltis was found decapitated.

My Lady, I am glad to say that though Napal Khan's guards were perfectly placed, and he was fully armed and seemed alert, Astius Nimed flew into the fiend's quarters and Nepal Khan was slain, though the identity of our agent has become known.


Noble Lord Arius Bragorus has obeyed our command in a dire hunt for the life-blood of Naipal Pal Ai Pur of Vendhya. My Lady, I am proud to say that though Naipal Pal Ai Pur's warriors were on guard, and Naipal Pal Ai Pur was aware that something was wtrong (and armed to the teeth), Lord Arius Bragorus flitted about like the sibling of shadows and the corpse of Naipal Pal Ai Pur was not found for hours.
