I REALLLY wanted to change my King's name to Skeletor, but there's just not enough orders ^___________^;

My vote is for the gently, but I'm just an old bag of bones... that's also a noob.

That is a “free” order. It will work if you try it. Similar to transferring troops/figures. It does not count against your influence

As A Newbie I would suggest gentle. We consider Darkover the birthright of the Dark Elf. In the spirit of gentle start. I will leave controlled Pop centers in Darkover unmolested at this time but would consider further action in Darkover as an act of aggression.

Since the idea of a newbie game is to allow everyone to ease into playing, then gentle seems in order. I would rather people learn to play and enjoy it, and stick around, than take advantage of them to win one game. One game is not worth losing another player. And that compounds. Getting a player who enjoys themselves will likely result in them inviting friends, who then help increase the number of players, etc. Which means I have a lot of new games to play with more people. The one game is over in a couple of months at most, and then is gone.

So ask questions. If you do not know how to do something, ask. If I know, I will give an honest answer, even if it means I lose this game. If I do not know, I will also say so. I am not an expert on the rules or at playing this game, but I will do my best to improve the experience for everybody.

In my previous post I said I was a Newbie but maybe I'm more of a Golden Oldie. My first Alamaze game was somewhere around 1995, I think I played 6 games, before 1999. That was a long time ago. Back then the game was played on paper, and our turns came in the mail. The game has evolved a lot since then. The maps have all changed and there may be 3-4 times as many orders as there were back then. In my very first game on turn two Military groups from three different Kingdoms showed up at most of my population centers including an Army Group at my Capital. I would hate to see that happen to a new player in this game.
A little about myself. Not the typical player I assume. 75 y/o retired Physical Therapist, and reining National Champion Olympic style Weightlifter (Snatch and Clean and Jerk) in the 75-79 age group and 161-178 pound weight class. I like to compete. Looking forward to turn one results. This should be fun.

welcome back I too returned after randomly finding this game about 4 months ago. It is good to see new faces. I purposely choose an underperfoming kingdom this game and plan on playing freindlyish Lets help grow the communitee and not squash it to apease our egos this time.

I guess we should define what "gentle" style of gameplay is so we're all on the same page. I played Dwarves before, so it's going to be weird having spells.
