Let's talk about Revelation
#1
I don't typically play the tier 1 wizard kingdoms, so I decided to give a few a try.

I just completed one as the Druid. I won the game, and it honestly is a bit worrisome how powerful Revelation is.

Let me paint the scene:

*Turns one through twenty, no one attacks me (thanks, neighbors!).
*On turn 21, I cast Revelation on the DE (he had or was near four regions at the time)
*With full and perfect information on his kingdom, I sent agents after targets and moved groups invisibly to key pop centers.
*Grabbed all his stuff and a bit more; win the game

What is missing?

*I didn't divine any of his pop centers
*I didn't recon anything of the DE
*I didn't locate his groups
*I didn't divine his reaction levels

Instead of spending orders on collecting intel, I cast one spell. One spell that is not accessible to half the kingdoms. And got everything - pop centers, his hidden capital, agents, emissaries, reaction levels, groups, heck, I even got his influence score! His SSN is probably in there somewhere, too!

Later, I cast Revelation on the DW and the LI (sorry LI, you got pounded!). I did divine some pop centers and did recons, but the revelations filled in all of the blanks.

Frankly, it feels too powerful. It seems like this should be multiple spells - one for PCs, another for groups, another for characters, etc.

But you can only issue it once is the catch. It's available to tier 2 / mastery kingdoms as well.

dont forget it also gives you the location of hidden capitals. It IS one of the most powerful spells in the game.

Imho, summoning iron golems is about as powerful. Top tier.

true but consider this a pit fiend does the same thing a iron golem does only with 25% casualtys instead of 5%. And it is only a level 5 spell. If you want the MOST powerful spell that is my choice for winner.

One more too strong spell; Disintegrate. From a level 9 wizard giving 45000 damage

Wait a minute... can you only cast it once per game (my reading), or once a game per (opposing) kingdom? Oy vey if the latter.

once per game per opposing kingdom. I've cast it against multiple kingdoms in the same game. Even tried casting it a second time against the same kingdom to see if it would work, but no.

I’m back on the scene starting Monday-ish. Unfortunately, my little brother passed away a couple of weeks ago, so I’ve been out of the loop and not keeping up with many things.

Regarding the spell Revelation, while controversial, it actually has quite a few possible counters:

1. Attack the wizard next to you—don’t let them grow unchecked for 20 turns.

2. Remove the spell completely.

3. Limit the spell’s users even more (e.g., only 1–4 wizards or kingdoms can use it).

4. Remove it from the game entirely.

Of course, there are many more options, but my ability to implement changes is currently limited since I don’t have a programmer working on this codebase right now. That said, I’ve learned a lot about the code and can make adjustments. Olorin and I have almost completed the “redo” of troops (both Kingdom and companion); my absence slowed us down, but the next step will be spells.

As always, I welcome any feedback!

Being adjusted...
