Fairy Folk here, if you need anything, let me know. Just keep in mind, I'm clueless...
One thing that I would like to say about this awesome game is that I wish the Player Aid for Unusual Encounters is restored. Those player aids are useful for new players, and going into an unusual encounter is tough without it. I don't want to use another player's estimate when the original version exists for us.
I've heard from some that it is inaccurate, but I've also heard that the original programmer said that was due to a precision matter since the Javascript version is less functional than the main Java program (something to do with decimal precision places). Is there an example that Brek has posted on the forum that shows the calculation of leader deaths? Like how many decimal places does it go compared to the javascript version?
As a new player, I really don't care about that level of accuracy. We just need something from the original programmer that provides us an idea of success/failure with unusual encounters. So far, it's been great!

I've found the following to be reliable for fine/excellent encounters:
Patrol with Valyrian steel, two generals, one P4 wizard, standard attack for the group and guarded attack for the wizard.
Go after 2-3 fine/excellent encounters first to level up your leaders and accumulate some other artifacts that might increase your groups strength before taking on a Superior level. I prefer to have a P6 or 2x P4's before going for Quest level artifact.
Do not use determined attack, that just increases the risk of of leaders dying. Do not use wizard assist encounter or mirror image. You may lose a wizard.
There's always an element of risk with unusual encounters, and I still occasionally lose a leader, but I have had success with this configuration for the most part.
if you have a single high ranking leader equiped with armor of anon then you can safely go with a determined attack. Similarly if you have a wraith/lich then you can go with wizard assist encounter. Tyrant is nice for this.

I have another question, this one for Kingdom Customization order #993.
I'm playing the Farie Folk kingdom (which are all flying brigades), so is it possible to select customization option G5 - Kingdom Brigade (Non-Flying/Green) even though my troops are flying?
I don't want option H3 - Kingdom Brigade Upgrade (Veteran), but an actual other brigade of troops in my group. So, is there a kingdom customization option for a regular kingdom brigade that is flying?
