Congrats to the winners!

The poor Halfling fought the Giants most of the game and survived.  I wont quit and for this game I won the personal challenge.  Giants attacked around 11 and i had no answer to his military, just survived and somehow kept my capital.  I built and survived eventually taking his seaborn capital.  To be fair the druild attacked at some point and i did not realize the UN was still kicking.  I wish I could have had a bit more time to prepare the HA was fun to play.

The benevolent Demons did come to your aid, Alz. I saw the Giants were cutting a wide path through Alamaze, so i jumped into all villages in Nyvaria belonging to him and took them away. You will note I did not stop you from taking them back from me, and I left the region once you had matters under control. And for all of my charitable efforts, you despised and denigrated and hated upon my generosity. But most of my game was simply holding regions 2, 3 and 13, and constructing lots of buildings. The Elf never gave up even though he only owned his capital for most of the game.

Ah yes, I was the Giant.

I moved on the UN early and took all of his stuff easily...except for his hidden capital. He ended up being a pain in the butt later.

Then I moved right to the HA in Nyvaria, had lots of quick successes, and took nearly everything but his capital. I was gearing up to take the capital when the DU attacked. I had a choice - move back to fight the DU in Pellinor or knock out the HA and lose my original region. I felt like the HA was mostly beaten, and taking his capital was a case of "winning more". I moved back to Pellinor, leaving a mostly defeated but not defeated HA in my backyard.

That was a mistake. The HA kept taking things, built back up his military, and did various agent actions (or maybe that was the UN; he was still out there). I pingponged between the DU and the HA, but eventually I ran into a wall of domes and couldn't take as much as I was losing. I got into the trap of chasing production to pay and feed those troops, living paycheck to paycheck. Eventually, I tried a desperation attack on a legendary (it didn't work), and when the newly reformed HA military showed up at my water capital, I knew the gig was up.

I am glossing over things. The DU and HA both played well and kept me running in circles. And yes, some mysterious agent actions were probably the UN.

The GI has some serious drawbacks that need to be taken into account when playing them:

1) The military is strong but EXPENSIVE; you can get up to 150k food and gold pretty quickly, to compensate, you need to always spend some time on building production. Of course, if people who should be dead keep coming back to life to take your stuff... I also may have over-recruited and/or recruited too early as well.

2) The wizards get two key spells at p-5 - protect from regional effect and dispel dome. A p-5 wizard for the GI is roughly 1.2 million gold, I joke, actually, it is 205,000 gold to raise an adept to p-5, assuming the adept gets through the rite with one try. That is a lot of gold when your troops are sucking up 100k or more of gold.

In hindsight, I should have used parley/diplomacy and two-turn town sieges to get around domes more.

3) You have no means to locate hidden PCs. The UN had its hidden capital, and I had no effective means to find it. The HA had two hidden villages, and I am pretty sure at least one of them had decent production. And of course, when the DU attacked, I had no effective means to hit back at his invisible capital.

I shouldn't say the GI has no means to find a hidden PC, but it is a hard pill to swallow to spend time searching when your military is demanding so much food and gold.

In hindsight, I should have attacked the DU first. The PC locations supported attacking the HA, but the DU was the long-term threat with his wizards. When in doubt, kill the wizard kingdom first!

I was afraid you would pivot to full control, I saw 2 princes.  I will say I understood and appreciated your help on the villages and purposefully did not try and expand into your areas even though I feared you were close to a blitz victory at the end.

Dave the two villages were like 200k food and 100k gold and one of them was right next to your capital!  I also wanted to make clear I understood the only reason you did not get my capital was because the Druid attacked allowing me to pump defenses into it.  I also got lucky and had Shield of Hector and a Warlord to help me when I had to run as fast as possible from you brutes!  I had a lvl 26 agent and I killed a few of your wizards and probably some mid agents but he got killed kidnapping your prince even though it was a success he got caught.
