Well, without giving away anything, I can probably give some insight into which kingdoms I chose and which got left on the shelf. I was unsure which kingdom Kane would take first and I preferred to react rather than initiate as it's my first titan game and he was a good enough sport to agree to go first. Had he picked the RD first, I would have selected both the DE and the AN. As part of a 'team' their unique abilities are quite valuable. But with him taking the GI, had I gone DE and AN next, I feel it's likely he would have taken the RD next and I wasn't crazy about that idea. I would have taken the AN as my next pick had he not snapped them up. Having them off the table, it was wide open and I chose the BL (even though they are the sissy dragons) because I liked the idea of having both dragon kingdoms. Not sure if he took the RA in response to me getting the BL, but I did pick the SO so the RA would not have a clear shot at region 9 and figured I wanted to start getting wizard power. Had he not taken the GN next (which surprised me, actually) that would have probably been my next pick. I decided to go for one of the elven kingdoms next as he didn't yet have a major magic power and so even if he did pick one, I could still pick the other. I chose the EL over the DA mostly for location reasons and I gambled (correctly) that he wouldn't take the TR. With him balancing that out with the DA, I was left with five to choose from. The WI was the easy pick - I wanted another magic power and felt that it was better to have than the WA. The TR always struck me as a kingdom that gains strength over time and I didn't feel it would be a good match against the AN in a quick game. The DW was superfluous with having the RD (though I was very glad he didn't pick them, as I expect him to). The UN was something I thought about, but with him having both the GN and the AN, I felt it would be problematic and I would spend more time trying to keep the kingdom viable rather than training agents.
It's quite interesting; I've never played a game like this before and I am trying to think out of the box and look at everything as one big kingdom and not six separate ones. I do think the odds are a bit against me given my lack of experience, but I'll give it my best and either way, I'm sure I'll enjoy playing against such a good opponent! Both of us have sent our first turns in, so whenever our friendly GM is able to run the turn, we'll see how things open.

My picks, aside from the first--GI--were somewhat predicated on what my esteemed opponent was doing. I took the AN to counter the DE and the RA as a counter to the BL (roughly equal military--RA wins in a head-to-head, BL has the advantage of mobility). I agree with Dupont--the TR isn't built for a Titan game...gains strength over time and can easily be targeted in a coordinated way. UN is also limited value in Titan. With multiple kingdoms, the assassination/kidnapping ability drops in value. I was tempted to take the DW as my last pick, but my opponent already had two magic kingdoms--kind of forced my hand. Also, with the DW and GN being natural enemies...would have been a pain in terms of influence.
Should be a great game!
