As we know, so far no persona has claimed a standard victory in the relaunch of Alamaze Classic in April. The Rex (standard victory) currently requires control of 5 regions.
Perhaps some of the NC Pegasus Productions players can discuss now many standard victories occurred in their experience, and perhaps as a guessed percentage of all victories.
My thinking is that there should be some sort of balance between standard and secret victory, which I don't think we currently have.
So, vote on the poll and then back up your vote with a comment here on this thread.
Here are two alternatives to the control of 5 regions:
1. Control 3 regions, declare the victory check, and retain control through the following turn, with a final victory check.
2. Control 4 regions as in currently required for 5 regions - victory is immediate.

I voted for 4 regions. I think that makes sense.

I'm thinking if no one has won with standard victory with the new setups, and few or no one did it in North Carolina over a 10 year period or so, and no one this year has controlled 3 regions for even a turn (is that true?), and all victories are by secret victory currently, then 3 regions is the answer, controlled for 2 turns.
Can people voting for 4 or keeping 5 regions provide their reasoning? Don't like standard victory? Want all victory to be secret, if so, why?

Some of the secret ones require 3 regions, i think. so this would not add anything if we dropped it to 3. Is there a chart of how fast each of the games has ended?

I'm leaning towards controlling 3 regions for 3 turns. That give Emms a chance to move and 320. You would have to be an excellent player to fend that off.

If you make it that long, could the win be automatic rather than requiring a standard victory check?
Anyway, I'm not sure about the three turn thing, simply because it's not like anyone should be surprised by the Kingdom obtaining the third region out of nowhere... the active players ought to know who's doing well by that point, and to the extent they want to prevent the victory or play a balance-of-power game, dominoes should already be falling against that Kingdom by the time the third region is taken.

I like the 4 regions instant win. I feel that 3, hold for 3, would be as impossible as the control 5, and next year we would have a new poll on this
I think once a kingdom got three, everyone would drop everything to react to the possible win in 3 turns, and that player would go from winning to destroyed in 3 turns.
I wouldn't even go for 3 as it would cause sudden DOOM. I would take my chances with secret.
I did learn one thing from my "mentor".

But why wouldn't the same apply for someone trying to take four regions? Realistically, people start getting targets on their heads as soon as they take a SECOND region, much less a third.
I think four regions is as insurmountable a goal for standard victory as five regions. Anyone who has a SVC of substantial in four will take their SVC before someone can control four regions.
