New Map: Alamaze Resurgent!
#11
I agree with many of the comments above. I love to see improvement made to the game even as you are looking forward to a new version. The "hurricane" is likely a maelstrom, and since it is just below the equator, it must be magical!

I like:
A bridge to Northern Mists/Perdition Isle! Is that an AO -- BP crossing?
Details added to the map, such as named mountains (Primus, Titus).
Scattered islands, especially the increased size to the Isle of Avalon - definitely changes the approach to the city.

I wish:
That the new named areas had a purpose other than map-flavoring.
That it was clearer which squares were forest vs swamp, but we can learn!
The grid was darker, or at least able to be made darker within PPT.
That the map details such as the ring, the horse, and the towers were less "obvious" - they will probably confuse people.

I assume:
That DT is the Fire of the Void artifact destroying volcano instead of at location ON.
That areas like locations TJ and VG are still plains.

I'm looking forward to seeing how kingdom strategies evolve.

I can produce a map with a dark grid as an alternative for those who prefer. Next time around, I'll be able to provide other options like removing most symbols. Meanwhile, I think players will quickly get used to the symbols and variances in the terrain appearance.

There is no symbol for the Fire of the Void on the map. BTW, does anyone actually destroy artifacts there? I think I originally intended a LOTR-like scenario that I never got around to.

Yes, areas like TJ are plains with a meadows symbol.

A darker grid would be great, and I agree that everyone will get used to the symbols.

As the game currently is, I don't see anyone destroying artifacts. They are too valuable as status points even if you can't make particularly good use of them. In the 3rd age, if you had race-specific artifacts (such as "only usable by humans") or alignment-based (only usable by "evil") AND the status points were cut in about a tenth, you might see some destruction. Another thought would be to grant double (triple?) status points to destroyed artifacts at game end. If possible, maybe move the graphic for the mountain at DT to area ON?

Sometimes destroying artifacts is part of ESO/SVC.

Having the troll/dragon/giant/wizard slayer or the demon dagger/ancient annihilator destroyed by the vulnerable party wouldn't be surprising.

You should see a slider in the lower right corner.
In the PDF version, it is likely top center.

Have updated the map to include The Fire of the Void at NN, changed a couple ambiguous terrain areas (again, there will be a file with each area and its terrain).

Now have a version with a roughly 2x darker grid - could not get darker in the file transference from CAD (map making) software to JPEG to PDF or PP.

Also have the lighter grid version updated and a PDF file. All are at the beginning of this thread and under Alamaze Resources.

Any chance of getting Vanasheen back to something like a pentagram?

This is great Ry Vor; to me the darker lines look about perfect. Thanks for doing it. I like the abode houses for Vanasheen.
