Need Help from Support
#1
Hi Ryvor or Unc Mike,  I have sent 3 requests to support without a reply.  The game runs on Monday or I would not be such a pest.  Can someone please check the support mailbox and reply please.

Yep, saw your message and asked Ry Vor to look over the detailed battle report to see if anything should be done for any battle...

Also, keep in mind that we're in the middle of a transition where all the GM duties are being placed back onto Ry Vor while I concentrate on developing The Choosing release. We also have a new Alamaze Utility program to create games, drop players, substitute players, ...etc. but there's a learning curve to use this as well as to learn where everything is within the XML/database system (in order to track down any problems). So if you don't hear anything back from Support before your next turn is due, just continue onward while your situation is being investigated and if anything requires a fix, you'll get a response along with any adjustments to your turn.

This sounds great, but in the past if the change was not made before the next turn then the fix was not made.  If this is the new policy then I am fine but I fear that I will lose out.

Players should be aware that a brigade is eliminated if its attrition puts it over 60%.  The remaining troops are reorganized into surviving brigades.  So if a group has 10 brigades, total group attrition can't be higher than 6%, or instead a brigade is eliminated.  This is addressed during combat, but not during transfers.  It is normally actually a benefit to players, as the attrition is eliminated or reduced significantly, and the upkeep cost is reduced.  Once again, the brigades selected for elimination are based on their strength (inverse) and their numbers (proportional).  So if you have 9 Rangers and 1 Recruit, as much as you might wish for the Recruits eliminated, it will be a Ranger brigade.  If you had  6 Ranger and 3 Recruits, a Recruit would be selected for elimination as Rangers are 2x+ tougher than Recruits.

I also want to say we take pride in the support we have given from the beginning of the Resurgence.  From Cipher in 2013, my work in 2014 and Mike's here in 2015, we have exceeded any reasonable expectation.  But we don't work 24/7.  The three requests referenced above were all from 10PM Friday night to today and it has been resolved here Sunday afternoon and there was no error in the program.  Generally we surpass any company I can think of, but to be safe get any request in 9am - 5pm Monday - Friday.

I hope no one took my request for assistance as a complaint about your support.  By the way the first request was sent in on Thursday not Friday as you mention.

Just have to give a shout-out to Support and UM for the programming... I was sure there was an error in my turn, and I thought it was due to a strange interaction between an ongoing siege and some Fertile Fields spells to increase food production.

As it turns out, everything worked exactly as intended. There was simply another intervening factor or two that I was unaware of, which unbeknownst to me completely accounted for the entire situation.

The Java platform and Support are really impressive, many thanks to all involved!

In this instance my group battled a much inferior group and won easily.  The battle report indicated 0% losses yet I lost a brigade.  Ryvor explains this loss very well as I entered the battle with 10% attrition due to a regional effect spell.  I understand the spell would not cause the loss of a brigade but once a battle was entered, with my group being larger than 10 brigades, the 10% attrition would result in the loss of a brigade.

Here is what I am still unclear about.  On the same turn my same group had another battle.  My Kingdom would be considered a military kingdom and my opponent has a very bad military.  My group was three times the size of my opponent and my opponent was surprised.  There was no magic involved.  I won the battle easily and again my battle report indicated 0% losses yet I lost a brigade.  How did this happen?

If the attrition from the regional spell was high enough to cause me to lose 2 brigades wouldnt that have happened in the first battle?  If my group suffered 0% attrition I would not have lost a brigade.  Was the battle report inaccurate, did I really lose 5%+ which caused me to lose a brigade.  Is there a problem in the code?

I still dont understand how I lost the second brigade.
