This is a Titan game currently on turn 3 with the winner slated to take on Wfrankenhoff. Here were the kingdom choices:
The Sten:
RD
AN
GN
DW
EL
WI
DuPont
GI
DE
RA
BL
SO
WA
So far, there's been little direct conflict, though that is likely to change. On turn 1, there was a sea battle in the Sea of Terror when 3 mid-quality WI fleets ran into 3 top-quality DE ones, who proceeded to send them to the bottom. The Sea of Terror, they say, never gives up her dead, but the hope that Ry Vor and his friends might be passengers turned out to be in vain. Nor was the 2EL caught as was the other hope.
Other than a selective sleep spells, turn 2 saw no sparks fly, but now with turn 3, the Eastern Stepps, a tempting prize with the DA not on deck, has spotted groups from the SO, RD and DW. With the 1SO brigade facing off against the 1RD division, a good time is expected to be had by all who are observing (though not the hapless 1SO).
On the other hand, only two regions have become controlled at this point - Arcania by the DE and the Southern Sands by the BL.

Interesting! Can you give us a breakdown of the drafting order?

Sure. I let him go first and he took the RD.
I countered with the GI and then after debating between the DE and the AN, took the DE because of it's southern location and gating ability.
He took the AN as I expected but then chose the GN, also considering the south as well as shoring up the AN's flank, I'm guessing.
That meant I could pick the RA and BL - both because I considered the TR would not be in play, so no natural enemy for the RA, but again, both in the south and as those two kingdoms usually interfere with one another, I might have an easy shot at the Sands.
He came back with EL, DW, completing the west side of the map and making sure the RD would have a secure base to start with.
I liked my choices then. The TR and UN were not considered. I looked at the DA, but felt that going for the SO/WA combo meant I had the two best wizard kingdoms, the GI and RA would not have imediate threats in their areas and that he'd more or less have to choose the remaining magic power, the WI and this would create an empty Eastern Steppes.
He did indeed take the WI, giving him an 'L' shape on the map with me concentrated in the center and southeast. We shall see how it all plays out!

I, of course, voted for "The Sten" to win.
The Sten is a slower starter, but once the momentum gets going... Watch out (if the momentum gets going--so far, no--but I'm optimistic)!

Well, I would have to say I have the advantage right now. 6 regions for me. The Sten had 3, but I turned Runnimede uncontrolled last turn.

I find the grand-strategy of draft selection very interesting. Good stuff.

Drafting is fascinating, and it's one of my favorite parts of this game. It actually fits with my "play Alamaze the way you want to play it" theory as one of the strong appeals of the game.
The only thing about Titan games is that they're kind of exhausting. I have to really mentally gear up to put a turn together, to an extent that isn't typical for a regular or even a Warlords game.
I know you're not keen on new formats for the sake of having new formats, but I really think a 2 vs. 2 Titan format concept would be very appealing to folks, hopefully require minimal coding time, and allow for the drafting complexity that is so interesting. And yet it would be more accessible to people with fewer slots available, and/or less time, and/or minimal desire to spend the mental energy required for the 1 vs. 1 Titan format.
Just a thought from a huge fan, and drafting proponent.

"hopefully require minimal coding time",
Probably the phrase on my tombstone....
