Hello everyone. First time player here. Played Legends many years ago which appears to be a similar game. Looking forward to it! Any setup advice would be welcome!

Welcome Kronin, I recommend to try to get in a team game or a Primeval game with a mentor so you have somebody to answer questions specific to your game.

I think he should be fine with his RA. The SO is a pretty nice guy to the new players.

The key to playing RA is to attack SO at all costs! It does help to play in a mentor team game, good strategy does not always win but bad ones end your flame fast, lots of sharks in the water.

I was wondering who the main adversary for the Rangers was...couldn't tell from reading the race descriptions. Having played these types of games before I hope to be able to get over the learning curve quicker than most! Thanks for the welcome everyone!

In addition to the setup from JF, if you want more info for a full view of how the Ranger position works for a whole game, you could look at my write-up in the Valhalla thread, under Game 141. It is not THE answer to how to run the position, but it is one blueprint that worked well in that game at that time.
Your only consistent adversary is the Troll, your natural enemy, but he is pretty far away, so you will want to choose an enemy nearby, make friends with the others who are nearby, and then kick butt. You are, after all, a military kingdom.
