Do you sometimes attack just to raise leaders?

My personal philosophy is that fun counts for more than challenge just for the sake of challenge, and it's no fun when your Warlord bites the dust, assuming you can even obtain one in the first place. Smile

I think I am good with the promotion rates that are making Warlord tougher to achieve. All of the 3 Warlord groups were a bit crazy.   I would just like a better spawn rate on captains and maybe a little lower death rate.

Could be we are hard to please also.

What?!!!  Us hard to please????!!!  Say it ain't so!!!!  Poor Rick!  Kind of like herding sabre tooth tigers..........meow!   Tongue

Maybe some kingdoms should be able to recruit captains at PC's.  Order 561.  Just a thought.

Well, I actually agree.  I also think people should be able to recruit adepts (at a high price).  And I think HPs should develop into their powers instead of being hired into them.  There should be many many ways to spend your money effectively and not enough money.  But that is just one vision of the game and, given enough time, our views may actually achieve realization.  The main problem is that, as experienced players, you all are already accustomed to the complexity of the existing game while NooBs are overwhelmed at the complexity of the current game.  Maybe what is needed is graduated complexity.  Further, incentives for NooBs to move to higher complexity faster can be arranged to "drive" newer members into the higher complexity direction.  Kind of like a handicap system.  Rick is actually doing something like that (somewhat instinctively) with the "chivalrous" option in the new anon game.  It is a good idea if experienced players are willing to play with "one quarter hand tied behind their backs" (ok the analogy is lacking).  The learning curve of this game is quite daunting.  Lots of different ways this community can go.  Most are interesting.  Stagnation and strategy perfection is not (IMHO).  Change is good.  Be fleet of foot.  If we can learn to adapt more swiftly to change than the remainder of the world, we can be the masters of it....bwah, hah, hah, hah Blush .....errrrr... I mean we can be flexible and good hearted....like Thanatos

Lots of that forthcoming, Beautific.

4th Scenario:  new rules and types of 565 special recruits, some kingdom changes, artifact changes, the Kingdom Traits implemented, some spell changes.

We like feedback, and we are about ready to start games on the new platform.  If players who have been in Game #300 can comment on the look of results that would be nice.  I know, at some level that is superficial and most of you might not care that much that we have art on turns, etc, but we need a way to triple our numbers, and once there, real growth might happen.

Is the chance to raise leaders the same when investigating an unusual sighting as they are in combat (pc or group)? If playing the BL, which is more difficult to succeed at US encounters, would it be possible to set at a US and keep trying to get it hoping leaders will be raised up or eventually getting the US?

An Unusual Encounter calculator is forthcoming in a couple days.  The best chance to raise and have leaders emerge (and likely, killed) is in Unusual Encounters.  It varies by kingdom.

Yes, The Bigs (BL, GI, RD, TR) are at some disadvantage as artifact hunters as they don't get "The Men" which is pretty much equal to something like a general or marshal depending on the kingdom.

Wait, what?  When did GI and TR start suffering from this?

Every long-time player would know that GI is a fantastic artifact hunter, and although that has been attenuated somewhat by the new artifact difficulty system at the higher levels, they still had been quite excellent at recovering them.

+1 ^^^

I thought it was just RD and BL that didn't have 'Men' to search encounters...

was just wondering if hitting US' would be better at raising leaders than suffering damage from attacking pops or groups.

Risks (leader death) and rewards (leader advancement, captain generation) are both higher in US compared to attacking pop centers (especially villages, which have rare promotions and zero morale benefit now, apparently), from what I understand.
