DUEL! Championship: Become the Militaris!
#11
I was thinking status point but if someone claims a victory they get +500 status points per turn before the other game finishes. So you could come back but it would be hard.

I would also be fine with 1st to win takes it.
Ranking for second round should be 1st to win then status points of game won as a tie breaker. So first to win would play last to win.

only one person per matchup can advance unless a winner drops

Guess we usurped Rick's plan. But if it is just based on points, the incentive is to build up a lead but then don't rush to declare. Very different from a win strategy.

I was actually thinking worse Vball. Because it is just status points. You are really not fighting your opponent. You would be better off working together to ensure you both get maximum status points and both advance

Was not thinking status points carrying over. Next round everyone starts even. Win and move on, elimination style.

I'll take the Dwarves against any of you.

Ry Vor I know you built quite a monument of a capital before those RDs came and took it down. Here is my DW capital in one of my games
Town 108,350 184,195 78,500 41,338 90,949 Adjusted defense 184k and growing Smile

Oh and if you want to pick which kingdom I should beat your DWs up with I would be happy to take you on.

I was disappointed with that result.  Not sure how the Red Dragons with no controlled regions can have 27 brigades hanging in the Mountains with five groups like a swarm of hornets for 10 turns.

It's Dwarves vs. Elves, and vice versa.  I do think playing a 3rd Cycle kingdom gives you insight, as well as going against a particular foe.  I'm pretty pleased with the advancement over 2nd Cycle.

Hope players choose to participate in this tournament.  Its a different experience.

I played GN vs DW using this format and am currently playing SO vs NE. I do find it to be a great format and a very good idea to be on equal footing. I only prefer it to be some sort of win/lose format as some the players have been discussing.

I actually find the DW to be one of the few non-magical kingdoms that seemed to be at the correct level to compete if a full diplomacy game. In the GN vs DW game. The GN over powered the DW in most every way. I won with my GN and forced a turn 18 draw with the DW vs GN side. Will be interesting to play the EL vs DW. I do feel the EL has the upper hand but not as much as some may think.

That's kind of what I am saying.

When I first started the Resurgence, I was thinking, who would want to play the Gnomes.  But they are a very interesting kingdom.  As I like to think they all are, in their very different ways.  Anyway, I try.  And we are so much further by what Mike has accomplished.   We need more players.

I think Dwarves vs. Elves is a classic matchup, and yes, most would bet on the Elves.  But I've had experience with the Dwarves (as concerned they were the red-headed step child), and I can think they can be fun and powerful.  In the game referenced, I had four Princes, then Duchess and Countess, Baron, etc.   Magic is a concern but, it is lovely to read the report that your resistance to sleep, or other magic, worked.

I've said before, It's Harder Than It Looks.  Creating kingdoms with so many differences and styles of play and abilities, and having it all mesh, well, I won't deny a sense of pride.  So, don't fear your chances with the Dwarves, or any kingdom.  I think a DUEL tournament can be a lot of fun and you will learn about kingdoms.
