Based on what I have read, i would like seasonal diplomacy. I will learn from playing and from a veteran who will help me. Not sure how full diplomacy and game long agreements would help me learn.
Are there courtesy rules regarding new players - extra stuff or no early attacks, for instance?

Generally frowned on to attack the new players unless they attack first, and you get extra gold.

Seasonal is fine by me. I don't do as well in full diplomacy games.

I think you get an extra starting 20k gold as a chivalry bonus. There is an unwritten rule that new players don't get attacked in the first five turns, but you know what they say about unwritten rules. I don't know, do you?

It's actually 25,000. You start the game with 80k gold.
