Spell #942 – Summon High Demon
By using this spell, the wizard causes a high demon to materialize in the target area (no
more than 10 areas away from the casting wizard's location)
This is a known issue ever since the Imp Familiar spell became active. The logic in the code to check distances was moved accidentally into the Imp region (to check for its 8 area range), but by doing so, the programmer forgot to re-add that logic back into the demon/high demon section. So, demons of both variety have no range limit, like it was back in the old days...
Cool, I never used the spell before. Lol thanks Mike. There you go, I didn't have the answer, so now we all know which is good, thank you, Mike!

I would like to see if the victor in a battle (group on group) would get salvage rights in the battle. I'm sure that weapons and armor could be taken as their right and sold on the market for gold.

While I was coding the new Combat Simulator (just for Brek's use but a web version may be in the future), I corrected this problem with the Imp Familiar and Summon Demon/High-Demon spells. They all now check for range limitations: Imp 8 areas, Demons 10 areas.
BTW, while I was there, I also made the fix that Imps/Demons may not assassinate Immortals...

Well now I guess we could also take into account wear and tear on current troops, supply lines, all that good stuff....
Honestly this will not be happening anytime soon, but it is an interesting concept.

I have a thought on flying vs. ships. It seems like flying groups should have a very good chance against ships, after all ships come in many varieties like barges, sleek gallies, etc... As do flying brigades, Like Red dragons and Great Bats. A simple fix (I'm assuming) is you could give each flying brigade (of natural flyers only) a rating similar to ships and just do a sea battle. Like, Red dragons for example would obviously be like a power 16 ship, while a Great bat brigade might be like an 8, specters, I don't know, like 12. Just go by brigade value vs Pop center and convert. I'm pretty sure the "flyers vs ships = group sinks" phenomenon is not actually intended but rather just a remnant that hasn't been updated from the old days (when the rule was a group sank when the ship they were on was destroyed, or for some reason doesn't exist anymore) now that flyers can "land" on water, and a group does not need ships to sit on the water around a PC (as long as they are not met by a ship), it seems silly a barge can sink a Red Dragon. Luckily, none of mine met a ship, what a huge risk.
But if flyers can attack a PC from the air, why not a ship? A ship is just a very small PC on the water. If giving a brigade of troops the value of a ship is not amenable, you could give a ship a combat value like a group and do a land battle calculation instead. Maybe a barge would be like a brigade of goblins, about 1500 defense. So a fleet of 12 ships at quality 8 might be like 20,000 value in current terrain, while 12 ships at quality 16 would be more like 60,000 (10 dragons).
Probably not critical as flying vs ships is not that frequent, but what great new angle to explore, attacking a navy with flyers, build an army of great bats, specters, manticores, or gargoyles to deal with that navy sinking your ships! Another reason to invest in all those new ship gadgets, to fend off the dragons!

Also, when a player is removed from the game, artifacts should be destroyed or returned to the wild. They should not "fall onto" the PC where the group or emissary/agent was last located. This gives the dropping player the opportunity to give his artifacts to someone he chooses himself. I mean that he himself chooses, not chooses himself because that would require a person to play two kingdoms and no one does that.
If you want to give your artifacts to someone before you drop the game, make the offer in the forum and sell them.

Is the forum going to have a "search" function again? I'm thinking if someone wanted to look up the past finishes of the championship games, plug in the word championship and it would be a good start.

Are you referring to this forum search function, Wookie Panz?
I have added a new Forum Search link in red lettering further down. See if that is more visible/noticeable for you, Wookie Panz.
