Eternals and death
#1
Question: Is it possible to kill an eternal (like DE, AN, or FF) that is in your custody. And, if so, how do you do it? Do you need an agent with a weapon to do the dastardly deed, or is the kill emmy order able to do that? And if you did it with an agent with a weapon, is success 100%? And does an agent having like Demon Death dagger able to do it as well? I know that I tried to kill an AN consul once with said device, and it didn't let me do it, even though I would have succeeded.

I believe you need a WEAPON class artifact to be able to kill an immortal, kind of like needing one for a lich or nazgul. The Demon Death dagger is a COVERT artifact and does not mention helping kill an undead and the like. The COVERT artifacts that kill seem to be aimed more specifically.

I believe Windstar is asking how (if?) you can execute an immortal you have captured as a prisoner. Reading the rules it appears the answer is you cannot execute an immortal prisoner. Assign a high level guard!

I wonder about that. There is some evidence #430 would not work on an Immortal, so probably not. But an agent with a WEAPON class artifact should be able to do an assassination. The problem is the guard will likely interfere and may die in the process, so the dillema. Assign a low-level guard and try the assassination, risking an escape, or assign a high-level guard, likely thwarting any assassination attempts while he is your prisoner.

I don't think that my security forces would stop me from using an agent on assasinating a prisoner. If they did, then you wouldn't be able to recon your PC with an agent, as they could be caught otherwise. I just want to know if that is what is necessary--to use an agent with a weapon artifact.

It kind of depends on programming for whether or not a guard on a prisoner counts, under order #940. In HW, I have had an agent killed trying to assassinate in my own prison, so it is a problem there.

So a guard for the prisoner may interfere with the assassination try, but the agent with a Weapon class artifact would seem the best bet.

From last update:

An agent with a weapon-classed artifact that successfully assassinates an Immortal will kill the Immortal. This will be similar to how an agent with a weapon-classed artifact can kill an immortal lich/wraith/nazgul figure. If the agent’s assassination attempt is successful against the Immortal, there is a 50% chance that the artifact is destroyed in the process.
The escape order for an Immortal hostage is no longer automatic, but has a +50% chance of success.

While artifacts such as Ancient Annihilator and Demon Bane increase your chance to assassinate an Immortal, you still need a weapon artifact to succeed in the task.

Demon Bane and the like are very specific as to which type of immortal they affect. So IMO they do not work on the others. A weapon artifact is needed for general success.

My question for this is still if a guard on your prisoners detracts from the assassination attempt, and if it does, does it have a chance for either the assassin or guard to die?

According to the rulebook Guard Prisoner only reduces the chance of escaping: #299 – Guard Prisoners Guards all prisoners at the capital. Escape and rescue chances are reduced by 10 points plus 5 points for each level of the agent.
