Standby List
#1
At Commander Level Service and up you can get a standby spot if you want.  We don't typically have early drops but you never know.  First come, first served on this list.  You'll generally get a position dropped before turn 12 and a copy of the last 3 turns for the position.  We make a review of the last turn to make sure the position is still reasonably viable.  The standby doesn't count against your normal service level game slots, just your standby slot.

Hmm...let's see. Imperator level service allows for...three standby positions. So I could in theory be in up to 11 games at once. That's...actually kind of intimidating...

But I do believe the game is more fun when positions are played. Feel free to plug me in as needed!

Why do you only get access to the last 3 turns? This seems like a handicap.

It is a compromise.  Locating, retrieving, and sending three turns require quite a bit of manual effort by the Game Master.  More turns would require geometrically more time/effort.  While it might seem like a small requirement it actually means that other things do not get done: opportunity costs.

In exchange for the challenge of picking up a kingdom in the middle of its destruction and with limited information (only the last 3 turns worth) you get to play more Alamaze at no cost.  It is a more than fair compromise, in my mind!

If anyone takes over one of my standby spots I would give them all the turns. I know to get a good picture using the mapping tool you really do need all the turns. In the past these were just to big to send all at once but now they are rather small. I keep all my turns in a folder so is just drag and past them all. Not sure how they choose to keep turns on the server.

Not sure I even know how to "pander."  Guess you could let me how to do that, too?
