New Private Game: Dual Duel!
#1
So while we were waiting for the individual fast silent game to start, a few of us got together and put together a private game proposal, which I'm happy to report that Ry Vor has approved.  Basically, it would be each player controlling two Kingdoms:

1) Two game slots (for two Kingdoms each)
2) $25 setup fee (individual games are $15 and Warlords games are $35)
3) Fast (M-W-F)
4) Silent (absolutely no communication among players, but not truly anonymous)
5) Rex only, no SVC (and to be clear, it would need to be ONE of a player's Kingdoms holding four regions and declaring, per the standard Rex)

These additional PLAYER-ENFORCED rules would also apply:

1) Ally declarations, trades, and gifts are only allowed between your own two Kingdoms
2) Enemies can be freely declared, but you cannot later declare an enemy neutral
3) No HC issues are allowed to help another player's Kingdoms
4) All HC issues must be by SECRET ballot (this one tends to be the most forgotten of the player-enforced rules)
5) No drops before end-of-T20 (i.e. final orders issued on T17, before the three turn drop notice takes effect with an end-of-T20 message to all)

Kingdom assignments for this particular game were selected via a standard snake draft (first to last, then last to first), in order below, with the first Kingdom listed being selected first:

Picks 1/12 (HeadHoncho): GI & AN
Picks 2/11 (Lord Alz): BL & UN
Picks 3/10 (Lord Thanatos): RD & WI
Picks 4/9 (MadMardigan): EL & TR
Picks 5/8 (DuPont): DE & GN
Picks 6/7 (Imperial Tark): DA & RA

Unselected and not present: DW, SO, WA

This is similar to a Warlords game, but with a couple more players and 1/3 less complexity, with players only running two Kingdoms instead of three.  I don't think there will be any update reports since it's a "silent" game, but hopefully there will be some end-of-game reports, at least.  We'll see how it goes!

I'll be interested to hear how it turns out. My initial thought is that it will be kind of a hassle having 4 regions controlled by only one of your 2 kingdoms. Would probably prefer to require 5 regions by both kingdoms combined personally. A lot of housekeeping type stuff to coordinate control of all 4 regions under just one kingdom's banner.
-This Khal Drogo, it's said he has a hundred thousand men in his horde

What you suggest would require more coding, which I have always understood is not an option. So Rex with one Kingdom it is, and if it requires some logistical housekeeping, then players should plan for that. Smile

Sounds like a fun game. I like two kingdoms better than three like warlords. I do see someone flopping one kingdoms holdings to the other for the win. will make for a quicker game.
I guess you could add a player rule that a region must be owned by another player before your other kingdom can take control once the other kingdom had gained control.

I seem to recall being in a game that ended by concession post the move to the current platform. If so, you could institute any sort of player-enforced victory conditions you wanted without any coding - just have all other players concede once said conditions have been met. Or you just stop submitting turns and let everyone auto-drop after three turns. Not sure I would recommend any of this as there still might be unintended consequences - just an idea that popped into my head while reading this thread.

Not sure I get the latter idea.

I think it's OK if people flip their own regions to the other Kingdom they play.  The other players just need to be alert to one player getting a third region between his two Kingdoms, and understand that the danger of that player winning the game is increasing.

And if a player gets to four regions among his two Kingdoms, and isn't stopped from flipping them all to one Kingdom, then that failure is the responsibility of the other players, I think.

That's a fair point.

I got my invoice for this game setup but not my kingdom setups or Turn 0s. Normally I get both together. Am I the only one with this problem?

#9
Sometimes you get the invoice first, which is only fair anyway if we pay to play. Smile

Maybe Rick needs some $ to help the Dallas Cowboys get a new QB.
