Please do not take any of my comments as a personal insult or as a criticism of the game 'Alamaze', which I very much enjoy. Rather, I hope that my personal insight and unique perspective may, in some way, help make 'Alamaze' more fun, a more successful financial venture, or simply more sustainable as a long-term project. Anyone who reads this post should feel completely free to ignore, disregard, scorn, implement, improve, dispute, or otherwise comment upon its content.
Let me start off by admitting that I did not belong in a Warlord's Championship game. I had a single Warlords game under my belt and I just happened to win that one. I ended up filling a slot with much more qualified players.
This became obvious on turn 2 and that's only because I wasn't paying enough attention on turn 1. It started off bad when the Demon Prince used Demonic Denigration on my several times, preventing m from gaining Vanasheen at the same time the Ancient Ones prevented me from gaining Cradia. The game got more difficult from there.
I spent the game getting my butt kicked. Sure, I flailed around and managed to get a couple of slaps in, but I was pretty much on the bottom of the pile the whole game. The AN-TR tore into the Gnome while the DE-RA messed up the BL. My RD did what they could, but it was pretty bad. I'm pretty sure that almost every High Council motion for the first 15 turns were used to hurt me. They only stopped when it became obvious that they were wasting their gold.
All three of my kingdoms had Sanctuary's and were down to just a single pc at one point. I actually managed to come back a little after the DE-RA-DA quit, but only because I wasn't really worth bothering with.
I did toss Elan and Dragon Slayer into the Fire of the Void, just to see what would happen. It was cool that everyone got the news.
I decided to stop messing with the GI-DW-WI towards the end only because they had done the least damage to me. I hoped that if I focused on the evil TR-AN-EL alliance, the other would declare victory and my suffering would end. I don't know if I helped him, but congrats to Lord Thanatos for his 2014 Warlords Championship!
