How about an old school sign up?

Now that 3E is completely new why not just random positions?
Probably easier to set up and maybe someone wants to play the Nomads or whatever but everything should be pretty fresh now.

Were there ever random positions? The first game I signed up for - based on the Dragon article - I asked for the Westmen based on the 1 line description of them in the magazine. I don't ever recall a random selection.

Yeah, most people were just given random slots. That's when I played my 1st game as well.

If I remember that far back you could go random and get a game quickly or pick a few choices and wait for a future game

That must have been at RSI after I licensed it to them.  I don't think Phil did that (I certainly didn't), but Phil may have said send us your top 3 or 5, or a kingdom(s) you definitely don't want to be.  That was back when it was snail mail.
