3rd Cycle Titan contest?
#1
Any interest in playing a 3rd Cycle Titan contest?

Each player controls six kingdoms against a single opponent controlling six kingdoms.

Draft of kingdoms will be even more interesting because each kingdom selection will eliminate two kingdoms that your opponent can select.  Furthermore, because 565s cannot be issued until turn 4 there will no longer be a premium on the three kingdoms that formerly were the only ones to possess that ability.

I suggest the following draft format:

1
2
2
1
1
2
2
1
1
2
1
2

Player 1 selections:1,4,5,8,9,11
Player 2 selection: 2,3,6,7,10,12

I also suggest that this contest be done with the old 4/4/6 schedule.

Just need one opponent?  Any interest?

Full on slots right now but would be interested in the future, if Ry Vor is up for opening up this format in Third Cycle!

Titans could be on any schedule the two players agreed to I would think. I had asked about Titans and warlords. Maybe a couple months away but would be happy if Rick changed his mind.

I would also change the order slightly since your also effectively taking regions you kind of force the last choice it should be the player that picked first. Maybe something like
1
2
2

We're not intending to offer Warlords or Titans in 3rd Cycle for a couple months.  I would like to see all players get an opportunity to learn the game together and have those discussions on how things work.  Warlords flattens the learning curve a bit too much for the early months of the release (not to mention Titans).  Closest we might do to that is the Dual Duel, six players controlling two kingdoms each, maybe sometime in April.  I would give my usual position as well: it's easier to learn with Primeval, Full-On, or Alliance than it is with Anonymous.

Let's get some turns under our belt here with the initial Choosing games.

I am usually happy with any drafting format.  I use the rule of thumb that says the player who proposed the drafting system defers to the other player to determine whether he wishes to choose first or second.  Your method is definitely acceptable.  Smile

I do not understand this position.  Customers are clamoring to give you money for your product.  The answer is "wait so that those who do not wish to give me as much money will be in the same position as those who want to shovel money to me."  Again, I do not understand.

[Of course, the truth is you are allowing any potential perceived advantage to those who wish to trade turns and set-ups with as many players as possible instead of charging players to obtain this information by playing contests.  Also, with as much information as has already been assembled and posted - a great job, by the way (I can only think of a single additional spreadsheet I would need) - there truly is no real advantage to be gained by playing multiple positions. Yet, if you believe there is then the Magic format, playtesting, and existence of the internet have already defeated your hopes, my friend.  The additional truth is that your customers wish to enjoy your product!!!]

If the product is ready . . . sell it.

If the players want to accelerate their learning curve then all 12 players can team up in groups of 2 or 4 and play Warlords and Titan.  If they are happy learning by playing a single contest at a time they can elect to do so.

But to cater to only one subset of customers and not the other seems . . .

Well, whatever.  It is your baby!
