5 vs 5 or 6 vs 6 team challenge

1st if this is a stupid idea, don’t be mean, I’m sensitiveSmile

If Uncle Mike could set this up, which I don’t know if he could do it, would anyone be interested in this game?  This is what I was invisioning with this format.

Two captains, one per team.
Players can post in this thread, if they want to play.
Team captains draft players alternating one at a time.
After players are selected, team captains select kingdoms to be dispersed to their teams.
Captains select details of the game: ice age or regular, anon, no HP actions or limited, or random cities or not.  All selected by the captains.

If UM could tweek an already game type to do this type of game, would anyone like to play in it?  Just Curious?

When all games used to be manual we had this type of game kind of a 10 or 12 player titans.

Under the current system the best we could do without UM having to manually adjust anything would be to set up a team game of 4 teams and just know that it is two vs two teams. Trouble is only 1 team can claim a victory.

UM is changing the teams to just two something that is hard or something you could do easy? What would be the best way for us to signup for this style game? I think a 5 on 5 would likely be the best format to make each team start with 5 regions if possible.

Quick edit: I am in.

We don't do custom games anymore but it may be possible to set this up as a normal Titan game.

The two captains signup for the game in the Game Queue and select six kingdoms for their side. After turn 0 files are sent out (and before turn 1 orders are processed), either Rick or I can substitute one kingdom at a time on each side with the different players.

I don't know if we've ever done this before but it should work. If you want 5 vs 5 then we'll have to drop one kingdom on each side which will be eliminated after 3 turns of inactivity.

We don't offer custom games anymore for various reasons but the above may work with the substitution concept. It'll screw up Valhalla records though because Titan games are only two players so I will have to correct those records when the game ends to have one winner and one loser. You players decide who should get the win and who should get the loss on their permanent Valhalla record.

Oh, and it'll screw up Rick's billing procedure. The system sends Rick a message of who signs up for a new game and the Titan game will only show the two captains. So let Rick know that other players will have to be charged their game fee or he may charge the standard fee for the initial two players in a Titan game.

I'll play this.

If people are still going to join, keep in mind that this will be a customized game that we may not be able to setup properly. It's really better to play a standard game variant offered by the game queue. Any special requests for games will require extra time for both Rick and myself and any manual intervention introduces the possibility of error. So reconsider if you can about all of this and try to play a normal Magic-Alliance game or such.

Yeah, let's not hit Rick up with a custom game right when he gets out of the hospital.

I agree with you DuPont.. I didn’t know it had so many working parts. I don’t want Rick having to do anything right now too. And UM does so much for the game, I really don’t want him to have a hassle. Would have been fun thoughSmile
