No one wants the first 5 slots? There was an old saying back in the boarding house days...... The first one up is the best man dressed. I don't want first again but I will go low.

(Caution) Editorial Comment:

What does it say about balance in both regions and kingdoms, when the last three draft positions are #1, #5, #11. How could that be more perfect to the design intent?

I just have to say, it makes me happy.

In The Choosing, #1 was coveted, free setups had to be given on occasion to 11 and 12.

So far I think choosing #11 has done as well as anywhere, but we don't track that stat. Just seeing how they are doing in some of the games.

Then I think about choosing, and I will assume no more than 2 people will pick a kingdom in the first round, so for kingdoms, say I am picking 1 because I love a region that will not be named (not that I do) and 24th, which means the 12th kingdom. Given all the drafts so far, in exchange for getting my top choice for region (not that there is a consensus, but I have studied the stars and know deep stuff) I can still get a mage kingdom, a balanced kingdom, a military kingdom, maybe a devout kingdom. Right now I just expect the Demon Princes and Ancient Ones off the board by then, and I would have to be in an atypical mood to want those, personally. Meanwhile picking 11, I will have a top 3 kingdom pick, possibly #1, so if I did want the Demon Princes or Ancient Ones (I don't), I can get one of them there.

This deep analysis proves it. Wherever you pick, there you are, and there you have it. 'Nuf Said.

A reminder that games that are past turn 24, such as the Premier Silent Maelstrom 5242 now on turn 33, do not count against your service level, so that slot is available. In other words if you are at Scout and your game is 5242, you have that one slot available.

The Maelstrom Map is attached for your reference in choosing regions.
