2019 Alamaze Championship
#1
If both Last Train to Championship and Party Caboose are finished, well then, its time to begin:

The 2019 Alamaze Championship

Winner gets immortality (so you've got that going for you), along with $100 game credit, runner up $50, third place $25. The Championship is free to play for all that qualify. It is Silent Steel.

VBM, based on 3 points for gold, 2 points for silver, 1 point for bronze, can you determine the top 15 players (in case up to 3 in the top 12 choose not to play) in order with the kingdoms they would represent to get this thing going?  This is based on completed Maelstrom Steel games. So the primary is which persona did best with each kingdom, ties going first to gold, then to total status points.  Some personas will qualify for more than one kingdom, so likely we need to list the first and second persona option for the top 15 kingdoms.  Please post VBM and we can hash out any discrepancies or confusion.

Welcome to the 2019 contest to determine the Champion of Maelstrom champions.

First, a quick review, to whet your appetite for joining this list:

        Alamaze Steel Championship History
Champion of Champions for each year
Year    Champion    Kingdom Turn won Type
2013    Wynand              GI         30          Diplomacy
2014    Thalion               EL         26          Diplomacy
2015    Vball Michael       BL         21          Silent
2016    Vball Michael       WA        30          Silent
2017    Imperial Tark      DU         35          Silent
2018    Draugr               NE          30          Silent
2019     ________          __          __          Silent

The players/kingdoms below are the original 12 invites. However, you will notice that some players have more than one qualification. We included all Maelstrom games that were not team games or mentor games.
Even though the ally games are sort of like team games, we did include those.
So, first, we need those players (Painted Man, Draugr, Brek) to select which kingdom they will choose to play.
Next, we need all others to confirm they are in or that they wish to pass. From there, based on podium finishes and then status points, we will fill in the next group of players with invites. Who makes the next list depends greatly on which are chosen below. I guess we will need to then randomize so people can choose regions. In previous championships, regions were already associated with the kingdom chosen.
At least 4 more invites will issue, and if someone opts not to participate, then more will issue (for instance, The Wise One suggested he might not play this one).
Listing every possible alternate depending on who selects what just is not feasible. I have not been able to figure out how to add the spreadsheet here, so if someone wants to question or double-check, please email me and I will send you the spreadsheet. As an FYI, I did send the underlying spreadsheet to Draugr and to Rick for peer review before posting this.

AM          Vball Michael   (confirmed in)

I think region selection by overall status points for qualifying games would be a fair way to select regions. Call it a reward for supporting the game. Or it could be a per game average. Trouble with average is some only played 1 or 2 games.

I think people who win games quickly and decisively need to be rewarded, because points don’t necessarily reflect that. What about reward those winning game quickest or combine that with average points something less linear. I like the average but maybe have to played so many games total?
