Still alive and well

Hey all,

I wanted to both apologize for disappearing and also share as an explanation.  I was in 3 games with one just about to end when we left for Ireland in March.  I still was able to get my turns in using my phone, but it was a challenge and I wasn't exactly focused on the games (we were in Ireland and for some reason that is where my heart lies).  We were in Ireland when the travel ban was announced and that is when things got crazy.  We thought we might be stuck there since only the UK was excluded and Ireland is not technically part of the UK.  We went to the Airport and talked with Agents and found out that Ireland was also listed as the exception.  If we wanted to fly back early it would be on our dime and the flights were filling up quickly.

We decided to stay and finish our trip since it was just two more days.  We hit the airport on Saturday morning to find that the UK and Ireland were going to have a travel ban on Monday.  Whew, we just made it.  We flew back home and made it through customs and we felt like we dodged a bullet.  Needless to say, one game had ended, and I missed a turn on the other two.  I was disappointed as I was playing the UN in both and was in some heated battles that were incredibly fun.  Agents were active and things were crazy.

When we finally got home, things were still crazy.  Work wanted us to still be out doing what we do and I was trying on Monday and Tuesday, but the Bay Area was shut down and the projects I was working on were mostly down there.  By Wednesday, everything was shut down and we were worried about the company doing furloughs.

Fortunately, (I do feel very fortunate), My job has been fine, and my wife works as an RT at the hospital, so she was in no danger of losing her job.  Now my job was a work from home job.  My wife was called off a ton as here in Sacramento we never saw the spike of Covid Cases.  (I may hate Newsom, but his fast actions played a huge part in helping us avoid what NY is going through.....Now if he would just open things back up so we don't go back to the stone age).  Regardless, my wife took the opportunity to sign us up for Pilot training with some of the free time we now had, and that took a huge commitment on our part.  I have work, still trying to write my book, I am actually taking writing classes through our local community college and taking flight classes at the same time.  Add to that, we just bought a plane and we don't even have our student licenses yet.

The point of all of this is to first Apologize for dropping out of those last two games.  That is not my style and with some very heated battles, I felt like I robbed other players of the fun that we were having.  I am sorry for that.  Next, I wanted to say that life is good and I have nothing to complain about.  Me disappearing was in no way meant to be negative, there was just a huge shift in life and priorities that all happened very quickly.  I do miss the community and the fun.  I may be back and jump in some games down the road, but for right now, I can barely keep up with the things on my plate.  Between work, writing, reading, classes, and yes even some flying, time is very tight.

Alamaze is a great game and the community is filled with some great people.  I miss you all and wish you all the best.  Until I am able to jump back in, be safe!

let me close with this........Good hunting to you all.

Thanks Ashgar, that was moving.  Good luck in your pursuits, and it's ok to be in just one game of Alamaze at a time.   Smile

Ashgar was also instrumental in helping me hone my Alamaze skills in the numerous duels that we had. He is a fine tutor, and a good mentor as well!
