Ganging Up On Others
#1
This post is for exploring ideas on what to do about the possibility of being unfairly ganged up on by others. Please suggest any ideas that you may have.

1) Should the Alamaze software program impose some sort of penalty on invading forces, both militarily and politically, if a kingdom has one or more regions under control. For example, if your kingdom has two regions under control, all of your kingdom-controlled pc's will get an increase of 20% defense (10% defense per controlled region) plus +3.6 pts (governor with 12 influence) added to status quo. That would slow down the advances of any invading force, perhaps, too much in some opinion, but it's an idea to explore anyway.

2) Have the software detect if more than one kingdom's assets are in a region (check group locations and/or emissary locations if in same region), and impose a similar penalty above. So, the above option #1 would be based on the number of regions controlled before imposing penalties, while this second option actually detects if more than one kingdom's assets (groups/emissaries) are physically located in the same region before imposing any penalties.

3) Nothing needs to be done, just play more anonymous games. That way, no one knows who's playing what kingdom or in which region, and it's fair as it can be.

Any other thoughts? Hate to see players being frustrated and don't want people to drop out...

When is this a problem? In the current post in another thread, a kingdom has 4 regions. It isn’t rocket science for the remaining kingdoms to want to hit the kingdom to stop him from winning the game? His whining in the forum has no merit, in every game other kingdoms move against the kingdom on the verge to win, EVERY game.

The assumption that they are teaming up is speculation at best. Is it teaming up when one kingdom moves in one area that supports his kingdoms set over another, and likewise a different kingdom moves into a different area? Did you expect all the remaining kingdoms to just all move to a single area?

He confounds the situation be saying the other top 2 status point kingdoms are left alone to win!!! But not saying the other two are on the other side of the map, and can’t get to said picked kingdom without going through other kingdoms..

I personally don’t see a problem everyone knows be prepared to grab your 4th and 5th territories at the same time, or you will be targeted as someone getting ready to win. Has been this way since 4th cycle started. Imo

Ok then, as a possible resolution to prevent ganging up on the leader in games, the software could "hide" the number of regions that a kingdom has under control.  Also, the number of regions under control won't show up on the map snapshot file (no kingdom portraits will be displayed). Since this isn't the norm, I could make it as an option to select on the game queue page (when the game is initially created). Let me know if there's interest in something like this to hide the control of regions...

Your assumptions are wrong and your words are insulting. The targeting began way earlier than my taking any kind of lead, and there were numerous events which seemed coordinated. And yes, one of the invaders is from 3 regions away and landed directly on my capital. Early targeting or extra information, your choice. It is just hard to come back to the game to have numerous incumbent friends team up. And in case 6 enemies is not enough, now the Elf wants to buy extra sleep spells because he feels outnumbered at 6 to 1.

Let's work together on this topic. If you have to vent, please do so in the active games thread. I want this post to be more constructive by everyone in exploring alternate ways to prevent such frustrations from happening in the game. Read my earlier post about the possible hiding of regions under control. It's a new idea, has never been tried before, but may actually work out for the best. Let me know or if anyone else has any ideas to try out.

Hiding the regions under control is an interesting option and the best suggestion I have heard.  I'm not sure if I totally like it but it's the best thing so far.
It's harder than ever for a military kingdom with the 5 kingdom requirements.  The revelation spell is whole new wrinkle too.

Well, the powerful Revelation spell would be the only way to identify which regions are under control by a kingdom. Since the spell may only be cast once against a particular kingdom (and by a fairly high-leveled wizard), that knowledge would be limited to a certain degree in the game. Again, it's just a thought on how to reduce or even eliminate this nagging problem of players ganging up on others when they're about to win the game. I don't want people to be frustrated anymore, so let's take a moment and think about how we should move forward with a possible solution.

Just change it back to four regions. Things are getting too complicated

I do hate when anyone feels ganged up on. I think hiding who controls regions is quite an interesting idea.

What if we try a game by lion's share victory only.  It would guarantee 40 turns.r
