Today's top poster in the Alamaze forum? Not Wookie Panz. Not Jon "The Dickless" Deaux. And it sure as hell ain't Brekk the Biscuit, the new owner of Alamaze. Rather, it's Old Man Yours Truly tap dancing all over the Alamaze forum, leaving all of the rest of you fantasy-game-playing heathens in my dust. And this doesn't count any of those umpteen e-mails that I fired off about Alamaze, today, nor any of the Alamaze-related postings that I posted over on the Play By Mail Facebook page. Psssttt! Did you see what I did there?

And my postings don't tend to be starving suckers, either. They tend to have meat on their bones. And don't even act like your day has less hours in it than mine. Yet, you people sometimes wonder why Alamaze doesn't have more players than it does. But what are YOU doing to get the word out? No danger of you people talking people to death about the game.

Now, if you're still looking for your big boy pants, I understand. But you can't charge the beach of other people's attention, by being silent and hiding in your social media cupboards, quiet as a mouse.

Boy, with all of these Alamaze posts that I've been churning out on this beautiful Saturday, I feel like Atlas! You inchworms need to get moving. Squirming slow with the speed of a sloth ain't ever gonna get the job done. How about some help lighting this forum up? Are you sitting on dead empty? Do you not have a tiger in your tank?

Some days. Other days, not so much - or none at all.

We can plant more trees, Wookie Panz. If you love me, then there must be reason for it.

That aside, you do not seem to be signing up for new games of Alamaze, of late. Have you retired, upon learning of my entry into this realm? Say it isn't so, 'O valiant One!

I have signed up this very day for another game of Alamaze, this time as the Dwarves. Surely, you shall not leave me to deal with new evils in olden form, all by myself. Have I wronged you so, that you will not take up arms, anew, in pursuit of glory? Have you become unfit to rule over realms and to conquer new lands? Your spirit remained new and in its youth, the last time that I checked. Have you no loyalty to the cause?

'Tis Alamaze, my friend! Dare to rise from your haunches, and let minions tremble at thy coming!

Max you have succeeded where others have failed.  You have pried my weary bones from the wheelchair to join you in a game after 10 months of semi retirement from Alamaze.  That's the good news.  The even better, bestest news ever is that I picked a region right next to you!  You can bring your Demon Princes over to Crown Coast for hugs and cuddles with my Death Knights.
I played two games with the new kingdoms in them in the past but have never tried any of them myself.  I seem drawn to the evil trait so those death guys seem appropriate.
I have to admit I was tempted to try Ancients again.  I think they are my favorite kingdom and I am the most ancient of all current Alamaze players as far as I know, approaching the 73 year mark later this week.  I'll have to oil up the rusty parts to keep up with all the young whipper snappers.
Cheers!

And out of those seventy-three years, how many of them have been spent playing Alamaze? When did you first give Alamaze a try, Dan?

You know, for the last several days, I've come on here to this Alamaze forum, doing this and that and all kinds of different stuff, and posting way more than I should. Alamaze, Alamaze, Alamaze - everywhere you look, Maximus Dominus is ranting about Alamaze. I've managed to keep Brekk Biscuit-Eater up to all hours of the night, literally inundating him with a stream of e-mails flowing so fast that some have mistaken it for the water flowing over Niagra Falls. Granted, it's hardly my fault that Brekk can keep up. Just imagine if I actually were to kick things into overdrive.

But this right here, this sentiment of yours, draws water from the wells of my eyes. If you're gonna hide from playing Alamaze somewhere, though, to be quite honest with you, Mister Warncke, hunkering down in a wheel chair while making your way through postings on the Alamaze forum probably ain't gonna win you the grand prize amongst the hide-and-seekers of the world. Your imagination is always the youngest part of you, Dan. In fact, unlike much of the rest of us, it never ages. The imagination doesn't get aches and pains, as we grow older.

And what the hell is semi-retirement, anyway? That's like being on a diet and only eating half a feast. Alamaze is a part of you, Wookie Panz. And equally important, YOU are a part of Alamaze. You may, indeed, be drawn to the evil trait of kingdoms when seeking out a kingdom to choose from for signing up for new games of Alamaze, but the truth be told, you are a light burning brightly in the community of players, here. It isn't by pure coincidence that I take note of your presence, during visits to the forum, here.

If you fancy yourself as the most ancient of all Alamaze players, here, then I'll see if I can't bring remedy to that in forthcoming days and weeks. For now, though, return to the realm of your fathers. Return to the realm of your eternal youth. Return, my friend, to Alamaze!

Charles I started playing Alamaze in August of 2016 so 7 years ago but I've taken nearly a year off.  I started about a month after Keith (Rellgar), who I knew for quite a few years prior to that.  We used to play WWIV and another old friend from WWIV was Mike Hodgekiss, (Ohman).  Mike was my first mentor in Alamaze and helped me through the early turns.  It's sad that he is no longer with us.

There were so many talented players along the way and they taught me a great deal, especially in team games.  If I try to mention them I'm sure to leave someone out and bruise some feelings but they know who they are and I have thanked them many times, as was their due.

It's funny that you say our imagination is our youngest part Charles.  Even though my body is old, when I see a pretty lass my mind still seems to be stuck at 16.

By semi retired, I mean the sword is hanging on the wall but still sharp and ready for action.  As in real life, where I still enjoy working a couple of days a week, gaming has slowed a lot for me as I spend more time these days with grand kids  and other fun stuff while keeping in touch with Alamaze through the forum.  I do look forward to rejoining the fun when we fill the 72 hour game.  Only two more players needed!
