Military Groups and the Art of War in Alamaze

Well, Population Centers are not Groups, are they?

So, if Population Centers, which is where wizards normally reside (right?), are not Groups, yet Groups are what "donate" the figures (characters), then what accomplishes the transfer (donation) of figures from a Non-Group (population center) into a Group?

I can tell you this, as many different times as I have attempted to accomplish this on my own by way of attempting numerous different orders in multiple different games of Alamaze, and utterly failing to do so with success, this part of the game interface is DEFINITELY NOT intuitive. This will cause FRUSTRATION by the boat load among newcomers. And frustration equals the newcomer affected by such just saying to heck with the game.

The word "donate" is not listed in the 4th Cycle rulebook. If one wants to add a character (figure) to a Group, then it is not the Group that is donating.

Wizards and officers are in a group, not a p.c.  The group can be OUTSIDE the p.c.
If you want to activate an inactive group with a single wizard just do this:

Go to military orders
Select the group you want to move the wizard from
select order 699, transfer to inactive pre move
select the inactive group - every kingdom starts with at least 1
now put the wizard you want to move either by rank or name - first two letters
That's it, you are done and you just activated the inactive group.
If for any reason this does not work come back here with the error code because you did something wrong.

So, the Demon Princes start with more than 4 groups? Are the wizards in a group or groups that is numberless?

Here are my kingdom's groups listed under Military Encounters/Groups on my turn results:

Military Encounters/Groups

1st DEMON PRINCES  "Hell's Children"
Leaders: Major General, Captain

2nd DEMON PRINCES  "The Dealers of Death"
Leaders: General, Centurion

3rd DEMON PRINCES  "Disciples of the Demons"
Leaders: Captain Major

4th DEMON PRINCES  "Banshees of the Dark"
Leaders: None
Force composition (Inactive)
1st DEMON PRINCES  "Hell's Children"
Leaders: Major General, Captain

2nd DEMON PRINCES  "The Dealers of Death"
Leaders: General, Centurion

3rd DEMON PRINCES  "Disciples of the Demons"
Leaders: Captain Major

4th DEMON PRINCES  "Banshees of the Dark"
Leaders: None
Force composition (Inactive)

There is no mention, whatsoever, of wizards being currently in any of my kingdom's listed groups.

If they aren't in the groups that are listed, then where are they? Where are these other group(s) listed on the player's turn results?

Are population centers considered to be groups?

NOTE: I went back to look at my turn results, again, and found this under the Military Group Status sections:

1st DEMON PRINCES  "Hell's Children"
Force composition (Division):
Leadership                            Spell Casters
Major General                        Power-2
Captain                                 Adept

2nd DEMON PRINCES  "The Dealers of Death"
Force composition (Brigade)
Leadership                            Spell Casters
General                                Power-2
Centurion                             Adept

3rd DEMON PRINCES  "Disciples of the Demons"
Force composition (Brigade):
Leadership                            Spell Casters
Captain                                Power-2

4th DEMON PRINCES  "Banshees of the Dark"
Leaders: None
Force composition (Inactive)

The inactive group doesn't have any Leaders or Wizards in it.

If the wizard is in an Active Group, then why would I select the Inactive Group?

Let me play with it. I'll play with it using a couple of different kingdoms, and then I'll report back here, again, on the outcome of the attempts.[/quote]

Well, I'll be damned. It worked. I've lost count of how many times that I have tried doing this simple task.

So, what's happening, apparently, is that the game interface's chosen design and layout invite confusion, by virtue of all of the other little buttons that dominate the eyescape of the viewer (which I have denoted with red dots for ease of visual identification by all readers of this posting, both current and future).

Now, if you will, Wookie Panz, clarify for me whether creating a patrol with only a wizard in it can be done, no matter what area of the map that the Active Group is located in?
This has been a great blessing of help, Dan. Thank you so much for your patience and your Alamaze wisdom in helping me to overcome this persistent lingering obstacle that I just couldn't seem to get past, no matter how many times that I tried. Kudos to you, my friend!

Yes, you can create a patrol anywhere on the map.  I tried to keep this really simple.  The tabs you put the red buttons in are actually useful by the way.

Always use the first two letters of the wizard or general during transfers it will help

Sonif you have wizard Penny in 3UN and 4UN is inactive,
1. Tap 3UN
2. Scroll to 699
3. Transfer wiz PE.

Any orders after 700 will be availabe for wiz PE, but you have to hit the extra order button for wiz Pe, in 4UN. Not hard once you do it one time, hit i had to ask the same question.
