Inequity in recruiting

(10-15-2024, 06:21 PM)Windstar3 Wrote: There are several positions (like the EL, RA, and SA) which have little in the way of companion brigades. The EL has 15 total slots, and the RA has only 13. Since recruiting companion brigades has been increased to 7 per turn, these kingdoms are left in the dust as they can only recruit 2 per PC that they are at. This is a major bummer for these kingdoms.

I would like to see a special order done (I don't know if it is programmable) that these kingdoms can recruit a 3rd brigade from PCs to help alleviate this lack. Either that, or get them some more companion brigades. :-)

And get rid of the need to train popcenter recruits for these kingdoms.

Yes training should just go away. Everything should start as regular. Imo

I think everything should start as green. Except Stormgate Guard.

The difference between companions and PC experience now is not good- make them the same, for sure, but i'd vote for green. The 7-2(ish) recruiting advantage is more than enough.

On the other hand, the only limit on recruiting from town is population and time. With 4 groups recruiting you can recruit 8 brigades a turn as long as you replenish the population. 5 Ogres are not even one turn of recruiting, but you cannot get anymore in that group until the others die.

The other detail is each recruiting effort is an order. Early in the game, that is really a limit. Even later 7 orders on a turn is a big chunk of your total orders, as you only have 25.

Recruting from a PC also, in most cases, results in green troops which need the order to train them to regular status (granted you can train all recruits of the same type with a single order). Recruting from the wild always gets you "regular" troops.

I do like that the CI can recruit from PCs and get regular troops; I'd like to see other kingdoms get that ability, such as the RA.

I agree that recruiting requires a lot of orders. I'd like to see the ability to recruit multiple brigades of a single type with a single order and limit the overall count to seven.

I think recruiting should stay the same 1 per order. want 7 brigades use 7 orders. part if the spirit of alamaze is the limited numbers of orders and how one chooses to use them. reducing the orders will reduce the game to more of slugfest and less strategy. taking that out of the game reduces the fun and strategy.
I do agree some kingdoms need to be able to recruit more possible troop types as it really limits kingdoms from making a tough army group. nothing worse than a tough kingdom you cant even begin to field a group strong enough to fight them even up, but 1 order per troop recruited.

Really? I don't remember reading anything about that in the kingdom description... Are there any other kingdoms that can recruit regular troops form popcenters?

This was updated at some point however I don't believe the "generic" setup was updated. If you play the kingdom the setup you receive shows this ability. It really is nice!

To my knowledge, this is the only kingdom with this ability.

As a new player when I read about how popcenter recruits (could only come from towns and cities, and they had to be trained and you had to make sure the census was high enough) I assumed the human troops were better than companions from the wild because they were more of a hassle to get and it made sense to me that trained troops would be better than some guys hiding in the bushes - but this does not appear to be the case.

I like the 1 troop per order. Seems like making wild companions more widely available is the easiest fix. I could also understand changing some mechanics for recruiting form popcenters. Maybe the first 2 troops come as "regular" but if you try to recruit 3 or more then brigades 3-5 would be green since you would be pulling from fresh troops. And up the revolt threshold to 5 troops.
