Sorry, I'm a bit confused here, was there supposed to be communication in this game or not? Obviously with alliances formed there has been some communication, so wondering what the point of having Anonymous turned on was? I'd like to communicate with my neighbours but since I don't know who's playing what, I can't send any private messages either.

I was wondering the same thing with ally declarations and the council collusion.

I am not in this game, so I don't know exactly what folks did, but from what you describe, it could still be anonymous.
One can declare an ally in the hopes of getting a neighbor not to attack you.
Likewise, you can vote for someone else's issue in the hopes that they will vote for yours.
Neither of these require communication nor is there any guarantee that the kingdom you befriended is actually in favor of that.
Now, if there is mutual declaration on the same turn, or clearly two kingdoms landing in a region together, you have a different issue.

I can categorically say I have not communicated outside the game with any of the other kingdoms. Nor has any kingdom, to my knowledge, communicated in game via emissary names in a way that violates the spirit of the agreed rules (e.g. Agent 1 Letskillthegnome). Or for that matter, any way in game that violates the spirit of the rules in some way I can't think of. And I have thought hard about this... could you make a trade offer using ones and zeros to communicate in code? Maybe, I don't think so.

Anon are no communication games. You can do like vball listed without communication. But trades? That is collusion outside of forum. Those games are diplomacy and limited diplomacy games.

Clearly, Netstrider and Rargrim are closely coordinating in this game and have been for some time. Perhaps the rules were not clear at the start of the game?

Yeah this is my first Anon game and I wasn't sure what is allowed and what isn't. As an aside, how can you see which player is playing which nation? Besides hearing from a couple guys outside this game I didn't know anyone who was actually participating in it.

Since I assume I am being called out I will respond to this.
Firstly, I have no idea how to communicate with anyone in this game, as I can't see any names. Secondly I have no idea who Netstrider is! I can assume that they were my ally in the game, but that is the first time I have ever seen that name. It does lead me to believe that someone has looked into this on the back end, and if that is true then they would have seen no messaging.
I will tell you how our alliance came to be, and if that was illegal I will be the first to apologize:
Turn 3 the Atlantean declared me an ally. (October 14th) I am a fairly new player, and I assumed that this is how alliances were formed in non-communication games. They had also marched their army onto my town that was in their territory. Once again I assumed that they would attack it if I did not ally back, so I did turn 4.
(I will talk about this next part as both of these players have quit the game)
They never took my town (and neither did the Free Trader), so I assumed friendly relations and set my directions south against the Necromancer. I voted with the Atlantean, and they voted with me. (I am fairly certain the Atlantean has Vote yes as a standing order as I think they have voted yes ever round)
I hadn't even bothered to use my priestesses to look for population centers to my north until after turn 30 because I was busy doing a poor job of attacking the Necro's main army. (Don't ever attack main armies with Dragons unless you like losing). Once the necro dropped the game I cleaned up the region. I had just moved my armies back to the mountains to reinforce when 5 of my cities were attacked (militarily and diplomatically) and that leads us to our current turn.
I really don't think I have done anything wrong, but this is the second game I have been accused so I am wondering if it is me who is not understanding proper etiquette.
