I never really gave them much thought, but now that I am faced with an adversary who is hunkered down in one, I have doubts about their validity. My main complaint would be that since the last update was implemented and gold costs were eliminated, a kingdom can last the entire remaining game on 0 gold, using emissaries at will to pester.
No complaints to the pain in the butt kingdom actively using this against me now, but I think this is worth a change.

Don't forget the wizards I can use to pester, too!

OTOH, you know they will not be able to increase any levels or get new emissaries. So as they die off, the pestering slowly drops off too.

Paid informants revealed that Sad Melody had as its main defensive structure an earthen
bulwark surrounding the perimeter with open areas for passage on which low wooden towers
could each support a handful of archers. Early in the day, Grand Marshal Storm Aello
commanded his 1st Fairy Folk division to begin the attack upon the village. The village
walls will not aid the defenders very well against this flying attacker. The 1st Fairy
Folk group proudly led the Fairy Folks. As the attackers swept over the green fields, the
battle began.
- Long Range Missilers -
Early in the battle, defending missilers were able to eliminate entire companies of the
attacking force. The Fairy Folk ranks dealt out significant losses upon the village's wall
defenders.
- Magic -
Fairy Folk conjurers dismounted scarcely past where the defensive missiles were falling
and began an animated incantation. Incanting forcibly Wormfeather's presence arcane
impacted the course of the battle. Blinding light shot forth from him. Power-3 wizard
Wormfeather while seemingly detached from all else, seemed to draw within himself and
began to incant. A dark mist seemed to fall briefly over enemy lines, and then they grew
clearly more fearful of the battle. The Fairy Folk Radagast (Power-1) was not a factor in
the battle. The Fairy Folk Sauron (Power-1) was not a factor in the battle. The Fairy Folk
wizards caused substantial losses upon the protectors.
- Short Range Missilers -
In the initial minutes of battle, defending missilers were awesome in the total bloody
havoc the wrecked upon the disorganized attackers. The Fairy Folk ranks claimed noticable
losses upon the village's protectors.
- Storm -
It readily became apparent that the defending troops seemed to have made excellent use of
the advance indication of attack and fought with great determination. The superior
attacking force easily brushed aside the defenders in the field, and quickly began to
smash through the main gate with huge battering rams.
- Conclusion -
Fairy Folk casualties had now exceeded acceptable levels in the judgement of Grand Marshal
Storm Aello so the order for retreat was sounded. The leaders of the Fairy Folk force
managed the retreat fairly well, all considered. The village defenders were able to
successfully repel the Fairy Folk attack in Sad Melody! Fairy Folk casualties were put at
65.99%. All Fairy Folk leaders survived the battle. Despite receiving a fatal wound,
Power-3 Wormfeather survived due to our kingdom's special healing abilities! Tragically,
the Fairy Folk Power-1 Sauron was killed. Despite our kingdom's special healing abilities,
our skilled physicians could not save the wizard. The toll of battle has diminished the
group's morale.
Guess it’s not that annoying.lol
