Ice age game in queue
#1
Hi all. I just made an ice age game in the editor. Ice age games are not for the faint of heart: it will tap all your resources and know how to survive and thrive. The game is in a perpetual winter season for the entire map. This means that food production will only be at 25% and gold at 50%. What's more, movement costs an additional 25%. So a normal 5 point plains area is now 6.25 points. And what's more than that, all the seas are frozen over. If you would normally have ships, they will still be built to maintain playability, and you can scrap them because they cannot be used.

Since I messed up on the game queue, please use the second one (The one with some remarks in it).

There are two kingdoms that usually do good in this type of game: The DU (they get a druid grove that puts out 20k in food per turn--unaffected by the season) and the CI, who get 50% food production and 75% gold production.

Other than that, you are on your own. I look forward to seeing you on the field of battle!

I just read about the ice age variant in the rule book. That sounds horrible Smile

For the two people who signed up for the ice age game under the 936 game, please change your choices to the 937 game instead. The first one was an error. Thanks. And for those who are looking for a challenge of their Alamaze skill, try out the ice age game. It is fun, and you haven't lived an Alamaze game until you've played an ice age game!

Here is some info for folks:

Kingdoms such as the Dwarves and Pirates can create a special area such as a mine or pirate's cove which produces food and/or gold each turn. This special area is not impacted by the Ice Age.

Cimmerians and Lycans are well-suited to the Ice Age, but they may be targets because of this.

Seafaring kingdoms lose many of their advantages except one - good movement on the sea. This remains even if the seas are frozen.

Evil kingdoms, I believe, still get full production from a PC when they conquer it.
