5898 Concludes!

Congratulations to CosmicWizard winning via five regions on turn 40!

1    NE    CosmicWizard17            46,200      67,045
2    GI    Ozymandius                32,842      70,833
3    AL    Windstar                  46,693      67,769
4    UN    Milo007                  40,585      64,805
5    FT    Rargrim                  29,738      53,821

In battles between the FT and the GI outside of his capital I discovered that the Great Mage Tower building actually does work and is pretty effective! I was impressed with the FT military - he had something like 20 paladin brigades along with all the usual suspects. He must have been recruiting constantly.

I would like to know who domed the FT capital towards the end of the game - I had divination intel which told me the FT wizards were not in the region. Did someone else dome that town to deny me from getting it? (Which isn't a bad move, just curious).

Late in the game (around turn 30) I came very close to winning. I grabbed Stormgate and was setup to take another region. The UN had moved into several critical PCs, however I had recons of all of them via watch towers. I believe it was four UN emissaries and I slept all four. I figured I only needed two successful sleeps to keep control. The UN warded all of them and I declared victory with four regions and a substantial. Good on him for recognizing I would get those watch tower reports and thus spending the wards.

Congrats Cosmic on the win.

I was able to get a decent jump on the game by taking Storm gate (it was odd the Amazon put pressure in the area causing me to take it a turn later), but lost a high level mage going after an artifact which threw me off.  Didn't seem to really get my economy going as well as it should have, but that was probably because I thought for sure I was going to get pushed early and built up my army.

Giant - Your use of invisibility was the bane of my existence and you beat me badly.  You caught me out of position but regardless (not to slight those that give up), had I just given up you would have won the game a many turns ago.  Definitely some learning battle, so thank you for the schooling!

I think you are talking about turn 38 - My 2nd army was in the area and I was able to cast 2 domes.  You definitely dispelled one but if you did both then there was a 3rd one that I was unaware of.

I was very close to having enough boats (I think I was up to 50, but that was 2 turns too late), to go after your capital, but I just couldn't make it work right at the end.

Great game to all!
